Ford to add IPod compatibility?!?

Saw this article today. I wonder if F-150s will be included and if so ... will we be able to swap out the unit for one of these?

http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/ptech/0....ap/index.html

'Ford said Thursday it will offer the iPod integration as a dealer-installed option called "TripTunes Advanced." An adapter that doubles as a battery-charging station would go in either the glovebox or center storage console. Users would then be able to control the iPod through buttons on the steering wheel or the radio. Playlists, artists, and other song information will also be displayed on the cars' systems.

In addition, Ford plans to add auxiliary audio input jacks on nearly half of its lineup, starting this fall. Tunes from any gadget -- iPods, other MP3 or CD music players, cell phones and game handhelds -- will then be playable on the cars' audio systems without the need for extra adapters or FM transmitters.'

Why don't people just get the MP3 player option and burn 120-130 mp3's on a cd? Ipod= overrated

Because it sucks to skip through 80 tracks to find the one you want to hear.

I just got my iPod adaptor instaled on my new Pioneer 9800BT and its sweet. Find any song, by artist, name, etc. All by remote control, and you can see all that iPod info on the headunit.

Why don't people just buy an aftermarket head unit that direct links with the iPod. MP3 CD are overrated.

Here is another article. Seems the entire lineup will have that option.

I would rather have a USB port that I could plug a 2gb flash memory full of mp3s into. That would be nice without having to buy a new head unit.

Why can't they fix the damn RDS first, I get chicken scratch on my radio display. But I really can't complain, I've got a video Ipod to watch my wheeling vids in my truck, with my audiophile w/sub system.

Mustang

I was checking out the 07 Mustang at the dealership today. Sure enough standard IPOD/MP3 player input jack inside the center console.

Dude you are high, I have an Alpine with iPod interface, I dock the 30GB iPod in the glove and have my ENTIRE music collection at my disposal, and the sound quality being substanitally better than that of a MP3 cd. No scratches, no skips, greatness....

because I have over 6,000 songs on my IPOD .. I have and use the MP3 option .. but I use my IPOD a lot also ..

having a factory add on that would allow me to use the steering wheel controls would be very nice ..
