So Lou Ferrigno put on my filter. That explains everything.

Yinz need to eat your Wheaties n at. I didn't think mine came off too bad. I'd rather have it on there good n tight from the factory than reading about "my truck has 300 miles and the oil filter leaks".

thanks, fellas, for all the tips. i am glad i am not the only one to think that the filter is overtightened from the factory. sheesh, those bastards!

i will probably get one or many of the wrenches mentioned.

If you use a filter wrench from the top it is not that bad. Just turn it about 1/2 turn before you put it on the ramps.

better advice...ditch the torque guns just joking, better advice would be to hire your own bodybuilder to take car of the filter before the zztop girls change the oil for you!

My advice is find the right tools. I'm glad I found this site before I did my first change because I was warned and got prepared.
