Slight knocking noise when taking off

I'm hearing some pinging when I take off from a light or sit in a drive thru for a bit. It's been really hot here too, 100 degrees! I can't here anything when I'm on the hwy or climbing hills, it just does it when taking off. Also what is the normal water temp for these trucks. My temp gauge is just below the middle when warmed up. I've been using Chevron gas and nothing else since I bought it, and I have about 3800 miles on it.

87 octane, I'm not about to start using mid or even super. My old V-10 got to the point where super wasn't enough. I'll try switching to a different Chevron station.

I think it's typical, I'm running 91 octane and it sounds like a knock when you punch it from a stop if we're on the same page. I've heard other F150's do this.

Im pretty sure I know what you're talking about, my 2004 F-150 did it. However, my 2006 F-150 doesn't do it. Who knows!?
