you get a tether. its a 2 foot long starp made of seat belt webbing, but it has hooks on either end for Latch.

So yes, you still use LATCH in forward facing. Thats what keeps the seat in place and takes the weight in a sudden deceleration.. The tether at the top is only to keep the seat upright.

The makers of the car seat should be including this forward facing strap with all forward facing child seats.

Thank goodness for the Focus. That will be the primary means of transportation for us for a while, since i just got my S'cab and can't get into a S'crew anytime in the next 3 years (not that I would want to or anything ). Of course, as soon as the lease is up on the Focus, I'm getting my wife one of those Ford Edge things. Supposed to be pretty cool, that can be the family car.

I've had no probs toting my 22 month old in the SCAB. She rides in in the middle in her leather eddie bauer seat and there's still room for 2 adults in the back. If you bring the front seatback forward you don't need to open the suicide door very much to get the little one out. I normally park in the boonies anyway to avoid some POS giving me a door ding. . When daughter number 2 is born any day now she will ride in the back too until number 1 is old enough to ride up front in the jump seat.

You never mentioned you had a daughter??
Congrats!

I dated some chick that had 2 kids before, like 5 and 3 and it wasnt too bad with the car seats in the back of my 04 scab. Just sucks when there is cars parked right next to you. She was a tiny girl so the passenger space was never an issue.

I have a 04 SuperCrew and the wife has an Odyssey, so I know where you are coming from.

We are in the same club. I have a SuperCrew and the wife has an '02 Odyssey EX. We love the van and the kids mainly ride in the van. I have 3 kids ages 6, 3 and 10 months.

To get back to your original question. The main problem with rear facing seats and the SuperCab is how deep the seats are. If you put it in the center position then it is not as bad because the front seats do not get in the way as much. This will not work for you, though, since you are having twins. Go buy a seat that you will be using and try to fit it behind the driver's seat and see.

I have a SuperCrew and my son's first rear facing seat would barely fit behind my side (I am 6'-1"). I had a '98 SuperCab before this and the rear facing seat fit in the middle but only because I had the captains chairs. The end of the seat actually extended past the backs of the front seats.

The other problem is the suicide doors. They are a pain with infants. If someone is parked next to you it is a pain to open the front door then the back door and then load the baby in.

The 3 kids fit great in the back of the SuperCrew. The main problem is reating seat belts when strapping the older ones into their boosters because it is difficult to get to the part that the belt latches to.

Congrats again on the twins!!

First off, congrats on the twins! Putting the car seat in my SCab isn't too bad now that I've done it a couple hundred times. I slide the passenger seat forward to give me a little room and strap the seat down in the middle, push the pass. seat back and the car seat fits snugly between the inside top edge of each front seat. Two car seats is going to be a different story, especially with both of them being rear-facing. I hope you're not real tall. I know it would rather difficult to put my son's car seat on the driver's side because of how far back I have my seat....I'm 6'3".

Wow, Thanks for all the replies!! Yeah, i'm excited about it. So basically what I gather is park far away from everyone else and move my drivers seat up a bit lol, or buy a screw (hehe). My finacee is about 5'8" so passenger side wont be bad. I'm 6' even so i may have some trouble.

The other problem is she has a damn 2 door car so I might be driving that around while she has the kids during the day.... But I guess thats the price I have to pay.

Thanks Joe, she's almost 8 months old now and she loves ridin in daddy's Ford truck Gotta teach her young before my dad tells her how great his Cheby is

I agree though it is a PITA if there are cars next to you, trying to balance not hitting the car next to you, balancing the carseat, switching hands, etc. etc.
