Maybe something is inside there and fell down, best guess I can make. Maybe pop off the panels and take a look.

Been thinking about popping the panels off just to add some sound insulation there. But I'm not familiar with those fasteners and I'm leery of screwing it up. I asked the Ford Service Manager about "pulling all the interior panels to add sound proofing". He basically refused to do it or tell me how to do it myself. Said he, "didn't want to Pi** off FORD".

If you just talking about taking off the door panels, it's as easy as a few screws. Took me about 5 minutes to take off my door panels. Or are you talking about taking off the back panel behind your seat?

I'd like to take both the door and rear panels off. What's the trick for the Reg Cab F150s? Thanks, BB

For the door panels start at the bottom. Remove the bolt (there's only one for the whole panel) and then work the panel off from bottom to top. Removing is easy. Putting them back on is tricky the first time, just take your time with the clasps. I haven't removed the rear panel. I recall a thread awhile back about removing it to get the center seatbelt out after putting in a console. Try a search on center seatbelt or rear panel.

If you have a power rear slider, My rattle was directly behind the rear passenger head rest. There is a clip that holds the cable for the sliding window that was not attached to the rear wall. It is slightly difficult to check without pulling the rear seat back. It is right next to the child seat teather bracket behind the headrest. This might be your rattle, i thought mine was the doors also. Good luck...

Great info, I'll give it a try and the archive search as well. Thanks, BB

Thanks, no rear slider on this F150, if I can figure out the rear panel I'll take a look there. BB

Gave the F150 to Ford for the weekend, so the mechanic could take it for a long drive, the rattle/ticking noise is apparently in the door latches themselves. Tightened up and the rattle seems to have dissappeared, fer now anyway!

hmmm, my rattle comes from up under the DVRside dash panel (i'd guess up near the headlight switch). i've searched around a few different times looking for anything that would resolve the rattle, but no luck. anyone else have noise in that area?

I have an 05 reg cab not rattles yet had the truck close to a year now. I did notice that the back panel in is very flexable but then again its plastic so it wouldn't explain the metal sound some of you hear.
