Back From BFE Camping Trip - PICS of Truck Tent

Hey all... I got a sweet truck tent and other gear recently and just took a trip and got to try it all out for the first time in my F150... I could fit 4 people, 3 dogs, 2 tents, basically a full kitchen, food and gear for 3 nights. I was suprised I actually could get cell signal as well as internet from the campsite which was cool, but I tried to stay off... So heres some photos if you guys are interested in the tent, check it out.

Its a site off Hwy 74 in SoCal about 45 min off the road, 76xx elevation according to GPS.

Thanks for posting those pics, I've been interested in one of these but wasn't sure how it would work in the truck. How was the comfort level in the 5.5 bed.

What does one of those tents run? If I didn't get my toolbox I was considering one of those, but since I'm 6'4" I figured there wouldn't be too much room in the 5.5' bed even with the tailgate down.

Hey guys... Yes Chris this was up Santa Rosa. I'll be going back often after this trip I'm sure... Ill let you know in case you wanna go.

As for the comfort of the bed, I didnt think about it until you guys said something. I had an air matress in there and the tent is from the edge of the tailgate to the cab... So its nearly an eight foot long space in there and its pretty comfy. There is enough room between the tent door and the air matress to put shoes and stuff when you get in there.

It got really cloudy at one point and we put on the rain fly. About 3 minutes later it started pouring. I was hanging out on the tailgate in the little covered space, tent stayed dry, I stayed dry... Im gonna get one of those camp showers and disappear for a while...

Great looking tent...although around here, "BFE" would definitely exclude internet or cell phone service Heck, I can lose cell service twenty minutes from the house!

Our definition of BFE is where you take the truck and get it stuck, take the 4 Wheeler and get it stuck, then hike for another two hours. What's up with the pretty little campsite, level spot for your tent, and having enough energy left to blow up an air mattress??? The park ranger come around and put a mint on your pillow every night? j/k...mostly

Nice Pics...I've thought of getting one but once we are up in the mountains we go fishing, off-roading, etc and I'd have to keep taking the thing down which is why I never bought one. If I could park it and pitch it I would get one for sure.

Nice pics.

Well the tent cost about $180 shipped off eBay. Its the Sportz Truck Tent III. I got the air mattress at WalMart for like $20. I dont know that I will use it again, I think I would like it better if I had a rug and some blankets on the floor. The matress was good, but It wasnt necessary.

Yeah I know we were only like 14 Miles (straight line) from my house, but I live like a mile from the foot of the mountains here so its a nice spot to just get away. I know its not quite BFE with the phone service, but it sure is nice to have that just in case.

That fan hanging is awesome, it has 4 white LED lights, and a orange LED light in the center, and 2 fan speeds. The fan was good to run all night every night, and I used the lights on it depending if I was in there or just wanted it to be lit up when I came back. Like $15 at WalMart as well.

If you think this would be cool for you, I would say get it. I love this tent and it would fit two people no problem. I slept in there with my dog, but it was "man weekend" so the dog will be outside next time.

I was actually able to set this thing up OVER my Truxedo LoPro Tonneau. I wouldnt do it again, because the rails for the tonneau are metal, and I worry they will rip the tent... But still, it was nice not to have to remove anything if I dont want to. also, there is a "tube" at the back if you have a rear window you could reach into the truck, or run a power cord or something if you needed to. Ive got an invertor in the truck under the passenger seat with a couple of outlets I use to charge lights and phones and things, so if I wanted to do that in the tent, I could do it bug free...

That's nicer than mine.
I just take a 20X30 tarp and drape it over the truck. I use PVC pipes to support it. I'd get a tent like yours but I have a roll bar in the back.

Looks like a GD thread to me.....Tick.....tock......Tick......tock
