Front end bra or 3M clear?
Hello,
Looking for opinions of a front end bra vs 3M treatment for protecting a Harley F150 front end.
Something like this: http://www.fordaccessories.com/produ...tEndCover.aspx
Can anyone tell me their good and bad experiences with a front end bra?
Thanks,
JSB

In my experience a bra will scratch the holy hell out of the paint no matter how soft the manufacturer claims it is. Certain paint colours that fade over time will leave you with a two tone look when you pull the bra off to reveal the original paint against the faded weathered colour on the rest of the truck. As for the 3M I've seen demo's of it's ability to protect against rock chips and other damage. As to it's long term durability I can't really say.
Bras are UGLY! Get the 3M clear. I only put it on the lower metal painted part of the bumper and its been on there for over a year and so far so good. You can't see it unless you know it's there, and even then you can only see the edges.
I had a clear bra installed on mine right after I got it. Course I live in Colorado, and if you don't have some sort of front end protection your new bumper will have rock chips all over it within a year.
Definitely worth the $350; I had them install it on my headlights/foglights as well.

I have had the clear-bra material installed on two vehicles so far -- my wife's '05 Escape and my '05 F-150. I had the material installed within a day of leaving the dealer on both vehicles, and so far, I have been very pleased with the performance of the product!
I will say that the material is easier to see on my F-150 than it is on my wife's Escape, since my truck is the relatively dark Medium Wedgewood Blue, while the wife's Escape is the lighter Gold Ash Metallic color. However, I have noticed that the look of the clear-bra on my F-150 has improved over time, and has become less noticeable as the installation has cured.
On a darker color you will be able to see it -- especially if you already know it's there. But I would say the overall appearance is very acceptable -- and I'm pretty damn **** when it comes to my truck!
Of course, if it saves you from a rock chip in your paint it all becomes relative, since a chip would be 10x more noticeable than the clear-bra material would ever be!

Clear bra -- easy choice. In hindsight, I kind of wish I'd gone this route but, I couldn't get beyond the 'line' that is easily visible on darker colors... all in all though, it probably would've been worth it - I'm chipped pretty bad on my lower front end.

a guy at a weekly car show here in az sells this stuff and he noticed some of my chips and gave me a flyer about it and he said they do have it pre cut for our trucks, but i threw it away because that stuff doesnt shine as well imo
Do they have this precut for the doors on a supercrew and farther back. I'd like it on the doors, hood and front end, as well as rear and front quarter panels. I have bad scars from trees, brush, etc. that would have been easily saved by a clearbra. I'd like to see what it looks like on black paint when clean (how well it shines).
