Door speaker Suggestions.

My new Head unit should be here tomorrow(Kenwood DPX 501) and im in the market for some new door speakers now. It's a supercrew so I will be getting 4 of them and I would like to keep the price under 350 or 300 if possible. And could someone tell me the difference between 2,3, and 4 way speakers . I'm a novice at audio stuff so if you would, explain in simple terms what your talking about please. I'm going to be buying some '10 Kicker comp CVR's, a box and an amp within the next month also and have it installed at the same time. Thanks for any help

Why not just go to a stereo shop and listen to different ones. Get what sounds the best. Be sure to bring a cd with music that you are used to listening to so you can tell the subtle differences.

Because the only shops that have a decent selection are in memphis and I cant drive in memphis or I would go.
I have decided that I would go 400 if I had to. How about these

I would go with Rainbow. Probably the best on the (average consumer) market today. They have a huge line and devote alot to R&D. Their speakers range from a couple hundred to $12,000.

I would concentrate on a really good pair for up front and not worry too much about the rear (if at all). That allows you too spend more on a decent pair up front. On that note I would go with these:

Front: Germanium CS 265.25 (these would take up your budget)

or

Front: SLC CS 265.25
Rear: SL 165
(this combo can be had for about your budget)

I also didn't notice you mentioning an amp(s) to power these...I would recommend that as well...it will help bring any set you buy to life and live up to their potential.

About the 2 way, 3 way and 4 way question...to keep it simple: 2 way has a dedicated tweeter and midbass; 3 way is the same with a seperated mid range and mid bass; 4 way has a subwoofer, midbass, midrange and tweeter. The 4 ways are usually just a gimmick unless they are a very high end set like the Rainbow Reference 4 way set. You need to concentrate on just a good 2 way set of components.

I purchased my speakers from Crutchfield. All of them are Infinity Reference. The fronts are 6812cf, they are 6x8 components. The rears are 6810 cs, they 6x8 2 way. They absolutely rock. The front speakers were $160 on sale, they are normally $200. The rears were $80 on sale, they are normally $100.

It really depends on your speakers and a couple of things (i.e., budget, 2 channel, 4 channel, etc.). Pick your speakers first and we can go from there.

Ive had good luck with infinity components in the past with my rangers... I am going to get the components for the front doors and just a 2 way in the back... Usually can get them off ebay for ~ $100.00. I am keeping my head unit (theft reasons) and just hiding a good 4 channel amp somewhere in my 05 SCrew... I think anything is better than factory so I am sure you will be happy with what ever you go with!! Good Luck!

I had Infinity speakers in my 04 and loved them. I'll probably be getting another set for my 06 this fall.

i think i'm going to go with the infinity Ref6810CS 6x8 component system in the front and rear. You can get them off of ebay for less than a $100. What type of amp would I need for those? BTW new head unit came in today (kenwood DPX 5010) and it looks pretty sweet, i cant wait until I get my system installed
