Quick question for those that have it installed. Does it make it harder to close?
You are compressing the piston while closing.

One of the best things about this truck is that my wife can close the tailgate one handed. The other trucks we have driven she couldn't close the tailgate with both hands...

The piston has a valve on it. So closing the tailgate is normal, you are not working against the piston.

LOL, worried about adding weight to these fat trucks huh? I'd be more worried about eating too much for lunch at work and overweighing the truck on the drive home with my 12 inch sub vs. a 6 inch.

Looks like a neat mod. $50 isn't too bad, but then again I don't use the taillgate all that much. Then again I really thought this was a cool feature on the Titan.

Right now all funds are on hold to see what happens with an LED taillight search.

Yea I also have it installed. This works awesome! It closes just the same as before it was installed. Very nice product!

I would say if you use the tailgate alot then yea, its worth the money. It is a little pricey for what you get. But, it is very well built. You will see what I am talking about if you get it and see the various bolts that come with it - pretty cool designs.

I am very happy with it, and would recommend it. The guy has great customer service.

As for the weight - its negligible. Maybe 1-2 pounds?

According to the post office receipts the shipped weight is 1 lb. 10 oz. By the time you remove the packaging and the supplied tools and figure the weight difference between the bolts you remove and the supplied replacements you are probably at 1 lb. (maybe less) added to the truck.

Nah, Duke. I'm one of the lucky few that doesn't have that kind of a problem. LOL. I asked for the weight of the product because of the F150's Tailgate Assist that makes the tailgate feel lighter and reduces closing efforts.

I am completely aware that the tailgate comes off....but I never have any need for the tailgate to be removed on any of my trucks.

And if for some random reason I do need to remove it, its one bolt - would take me an additional 30 seconds to remove it.

The same holds true for all of us that have fiberglass lids on our beds.....once you put those on, it makes it difficult to carry tall things. But when that need arises, its 4 bolts and the thing is off.

I realize this isn't for everyone....just like a lift isnt for everyone, or a drop isnt for everyone. We all do things to our trucks that makes sense for us.

Gagagagaga...Oops, I went one key the other way.

This is a really cool feature, but banish the tought, I think I'll have to put it in my "nice to have" bucket.

By the way...I need to figure out how to move my ARE cover over, it's a little too far to the left now.

Duke, I know what you mean about the ARE lid. If you look at it from one angle, it looks perfect, and from another it can be totally off. But its simple to adjust.
