Interesting idea. I think the hardest part would be getting the solenoid in the tailgate and operating properly. Once you get that taken care of all you would need would be a door popper (or two) to push the tailgate open enough for gravity to take over.

I am not sure where the prices are on power tailgate actuators but if the cost is comparable it would be easier to go that way. Then you have power up and down.

Very sharp truck by the way - I've always been partial to black.

Welcome to the site GMI. Thanks for your input. Interesting ideas everyone. It would be cool to incorporate a shaved door kit and the EZ down into a remote system. It would probably be cheaper than the linear actuator solution.

Man, for the price it seems to be a no-brainer. I might have to get one also.

I'd be interested to read a review because --honestly-- I can't imagine how this is going to be that much better than stock. Remote open/close - yeah. Opening slower - uh....no.

Of course, I've been wrong before.

I didn't know that the Titan had it until last week when I had to go to the test track to ride around in new the vehicles (Altima, Armada, Quest, QX56, and Titan) coming off the line as part of new employee operations orientation. You thought that closing the tailgate on our trucks is easy, the Titan tailgate is really easy because of the assist. However, it wouldn't surprise me if driving with the tailgate down will cause the tailgate to try to slam shut when hitting a big enough bump in the road.

with our tailgates as light as they are, ive had mine bounce around and shake my truck. therefore i stopped leaving it down unless on interstate. felt like my truck was falling apart. but i won't by the ez down just b/c our tailgates are light enough to begin with. maybe if i still had my ranger i would get one. for a small truck it was so much heavier.

good idea though, ill tell my grandfather he may want one for his hemi ram.

You should actually leave the tailgate up whenever possible. You will get better gas mileage and at these prices any little bit helps. It has been proven in wind tunnels (and on the show Mythbusters). The air that gets trapped behind the cab causes the air that follows to flow over it and miss the rest of the truck. When the tailgate is down that air does not get trapped behind the cab and the airflow over the roof hits in the bed and causes more drag.

New F150 owner. Found this sight (very helpful), and read about the ez-down. Installed very quickly and operates as advertised. The only concern is the strut assy "interferes" with the tailgate cable. The cable wants to hit the strut when closing the gate. There is a 2" foam piece that fits over the cable to help with the interference.

The packaging and instructions were awesome too. A+ for a good product, and best of luck to the company in the future. Seems like they have great customer service and a great product.
