New Truck questions

Hello all, I just bought a new 2006 Black Lariat Supercab. I love the truck but I can't leave well enough alone. It is fully loaded but a 4x2 (I got a great deal on this truck and they didn't have a 4x4 version anywhere near the price) with the factory 4" Chrome tubular running boards that I don't want to take off.

I already have my heart set on a Magnaflow exhaust/Edge tuner/K&N CAI, billet grill and a hard tonneau cover.

What I can't decide is to lift or lower the truck. Either way I go it will not be too extreme as my wife and I are planning on starting a family and this truck will cart the kids from time to time. I have been lurking on the site for awhile and have a few idea's.

A) Skyjacker 3" lift with the 1 1/2" add a leaf running 325/65R18's on 18x10 Mazzi Hulks and the Skyjacker rear shocks.

B) Ground Force 2" drop shackles, 22" x 9.5" Rox Fuse Wheels w/ Nitto Proxes 305/45R22 tires and Bilstein shocks

I don't have a digital camera so I don't have any pics of my truck, but I would love to hear what you all think and seee any pics you may have. I have a pretty long commute to work and live on a pretty long and dusty road with some big potholes, so I also worry about upkeep on the bigger wheels.

Thanks, this site rocks!

Welcome to the site. I have the same truck, lol! I'd say go for the lift and Hulks just for the ride quality. I have heard that the 22's are a bit rougher of a ride. Nice looking wheels either way though.

im a lifted truck kinda guy and personally have the 18X10 mazzi hulks...

but for you having a 4X2 (nothing against lifting them) and starting a family and all, i say you lower it and search around for some other rims your like in 22's

Its a 2wd...drop it.

Looking under the front end of a lifted 2wd is like looking under the back end of a neutered dog...something that should be there is missing, and just makes you a little sad.

Never looked at it that way but it would look good either way but I prefer lifted.

Lower it -- lifted trucks are for little boys who are trying to make up for a "shortcoming" in other areas of their life......

There are some charachters here, lol

Question: How sturdy are 22's normally and what is the ride like? I am afraid to make my new truck ride too harsh. Like I said, the road to my house is a long, bumpy one with potholes, would I need to worry more than I would with the stock 18's?

Also, how is the ride with the Skyjacker coil overs? More cush or less cush than stock and compared to the 2" drop shakle/22's?

drop it with 305/45/22 you will have pleanty of side wall anda great ride with the 2"drop shackles(they will stiffen up the suspension just a little which i belive is needed on these trucks)
