Its a common misconception from people that have never road on them that big wheels and low profile tires will make a harsh ride. Its totally not true...I grantee you my 24s ride better than my factory 18s with BFGs. I would also think a 35in off-road tire would ride worse, be louder and less responsive than a lo-profile street tire (but I dont know because its been years since I have had a lifted truck). With that said you obviously would need to be a little more careful around curbs and such with a nice custom wheel...and I certainly would advise trying to avoid road hazards such as pot holes and rough railroad crossings but thats just common sense. There are a lot of guys on here with 22s and 24s and I have only heard of one guy messing one up on a pot hole...and I know of at least one guy that bent a factory rim as well.

I noticed no diffference in the suspension stiffness when I put on my shackles...I don't see how there could be any. All they do is change the position of where the rear of the leaf spring mounts. The rate and stiffness of the spring is not changed at all. So really there is no change in the suspension...just rife height. Now with the lower center of gravity there maybe a little noticible decrease in body roll, but other than that nothing should have changed.

I wonder where this false stereo typical thought started long ago? I have always wondered that...

Anyway, what I have come up with is...it is from guys that DO have "shortcomings" in their life but can't get their truck up!

To the original poster...I'm a HUGE fan (no pun intended) of lifted trucks, but some advice of owning one. Trying to put the little one in a car seat is really a PITA!!! The wife would complain constantly and make me put Bryan Jr in his car seat everytime. We end up usually just taking the SUV when we go out as a family though. So...I say lowered if you want to start a family...it will be easier for you!

Sounds like the wheels are going to get trashed (dirty) daily. I'd go with the lift.

maybe he could go with the best of both worlds and go with a level kit and a 20 inch rim with meaty tires so its not so hard to get the kids in and he'll have the lift he wants

Thanks for all the input guys. I am going to go with the Ground Force 2" drop shakle, 22" Rox Fuse wheels w/ 305/45R22 Nitto NT-420S tires and probably the Bilstein shocks and Hellwig rear sway bar. The truck won't be too low (the tires are still basiclly 33's) but it will give it a clean "luxury sport" look I think.

It'll be about 2 months untill I can get the money together to get it all ( I want to do it in one fell swoop)

Congrats on your new purchase As far as the mods you selected, email me. I have a suggestion you might be interested in.

Oh, lots of practice helps when starting a family.
