"different" box idea for '04 scab

I have an idea and would like to see what you guys think of it. Would it be possible to build a box to go along the accessory rails on the ‘04+ F150’s? The box wouldn’t be very deep (about as deep or maybe a little more than the standard CD holders, etc that attach to it. Basically deep enough to house the speaker. The box would probably have to be ported due to the lack of airspace. I was thinking a 6x9 or two. Maybe even a 10, but I bet a sub would be too deep. Any thoughts on this, have you heard of anyone trying this?

I posted in the audio section also, but thought you guys may have some thoughts also.

Great idea, as long as you don't go 4Xing with your truck. Then you might end up with a little headache.

That is my primary delimna. I am trying to come up with a system to secure the box to the rails. That is going to be the hard part and a possible deal breaker. I have debated bolting it to the rack somehow. I wonder if the electical for the rear dome light runs through there? I may be hitting up my machine shop buddy for this one.

A ported box is bigger than a sealed box for any given sub. I don't know how well it would work since I don't have the rail system, and have never seen it.

X2

Also, sealed enclosure for co-axials require less space than ported.
