Edge Version Question
Edge Version Question
Just got my edge in the mail and it is version E3 13.14a, manufactured 3/16/06. I've read the 20 pages of old posts on updating and such, and I don't know whether it would be worth my time to update. I would have to travel to a friends house to use his internet becuase I don't want to take a chance with our dial up. Those you can answer this question please respond, and please don't tell me to use the search feature, because I've read until I can't read no more.
Thanks for your time,

Firmware Updates
• v14 (03/01/2006)
o Fixed [Display] -> [Setup] menu when changing AMPG or IMPG display selections.
o Fixed problem with Timing Adjust where value was stored incorrectly in EEPROM.
o Fixed data type conversion problem which could cause values to be stored or applied incorrectly.
o Fixed issues where "Reset MPG" would come up when unit was restarted due to the [Enter] key being held down. We now wait for the key to be released before proceeding.
• v15 (03/04/2006)
o Now check for HEX code up to 3 times during bootup to help eliminate 0xF1 Error codes.
o Corrected "A" character in Times9R font.
• v16 (03/06/2006)
o Fixed calculation error on 1-2, 2-3 & 3-4 shift pressures which caused stalling/stumbling during shifts.
• v17 (04/05/2006)
o Custom Options now determine correct Tire Size and Gear Ratio from VID block instead of flash.
o Added redundant checks for "HEX" identifier during bootup. This will help reduce 0xF1 errors.
Calibration Updates
• v15a (02/15/2006)
o Readdress issue with 1-2 WOT shift hitting Rev Limiter.
o Adjust 2-1 shift at WOT to prevent downshift above 37 MPH.
o Address “Shudder/Clunk” issue at light throttle.
o Adjust downshift pressures to make them less aggressive.
• v16a (03/01/2006)
o Address P1205 / P1233 DTC on 4.6L vehicles.
o Fixed custom option issue on some 2004 trucks where engine idle would be unusually high (about 1600 RPM) after changing "Idle Speed" under the custom options.
• v17a (03/04/2006)
o Recompile of all calibration files due to possibility of corruption of some files.
You can find the above information here.
It's your choice, but I think it would be worthwhile to update your Edge.
Drove out to my friends last night to update, and forgot the update cable, but it's a good thing those things are so common because my friend had a spare. I downloaded the full lightning version, then the drivers, and had to install the new hardware wizard twice, but when I was all done it said that everything was sucessful and I'm up to date. I guess I did everything right, and thanks for the help.
Do you all have any other tips that the manual doesn't cover that a new edge user should know about?
