Swapping seats?

I'm interested in potentially swapping out the front seats (40/20/40) for captains chairs in my 05 XLT SuperCab.

Are all the captains chairs the same size (ie screw vs scab)??

The seats themselves (40/20/40 and captians chairs) are the exact same. The only difference is the console. So all you need to do is swap the "20" out and put an XLT console in.

But to answer your question....the difference in the seats between a Screw and Scab are the seatbelts. Screws have the seatbelts coming out of the door post and Scabs have them coming out of the top of the seat.

Like RamSS/T says, there is only one seat used. The Regular and SuperCab have a seat back installed belt, the SuperCrew does not.

On my regular cab I presently have the center 20 removed. The uncarpeted space is neatly covered by a SuperCab rear mat, matching the carpet.

I have used a Superduty console, a little tricky to mount but actually much more practical than even the XLT console.

Not having anything in there, that is no center seat and no console actually works very well, the truck seems very roomy and tossing things behind the seat is great.

I do however like to slump onto the center armrest when either the console or the 20% seat is installed. With no console or center seat my posture is better...

I wish these trucks came with a real captain's chair option, the kind with armrests that drop down.

Interesting, I thought the captain chairs might have had wider seat bottoms. I recently put a XLT console in my reg cab and was surprised by the amount of space left down between the console and seats.

Chris I drove once without the console or seat and it was way too strange having all that empty space, felt like I was gonna fall in. Good spot for a dog though.

The Screw seats are for sure the same as the others, I took the power off a pair of Lariat seats and put them under my STX seats in place of the manual adjusters, then covered my seats with the leather from a new Lariat, so believe me, if there was any real difference I would have noticed it...

You get used to the open space pretty quick, but in my case I have an amp under a three inch high 'box' with the carpet on top of it. I'm gonna get a picture or two of all the open space, and the amp.

The amp actually fits (just barely) under the center 20 seat. But since I was messing with the gain, etc. I just fabricated a box and tossed the spare carpet piece over it. Found out I liked it, so I may run that way for awhile.
