2007 Ford F-150

2007 Ford F-150: New Hemi-caliber V-8 launches with the F-150 and will spread to other trucks and even cars in the Ford portfolio. Still in development, this 6.2-liter engine will produce around 350 horsepower

I wonder reliable motortrend has been in the past, the engine was supposed to come out over a year later. When will the 07's hit the lots? I also don't see why it takes a 6.2L to put out 350 when Toyota can squeeze that out of a 5.7. What is going to be the disadvantage to the 6.2 over a 5.7L, I'm assuming gas milage.

The 6.2 will likely have more torque.

Well I dont believe a word Motor Trend says. We have 2 2007MY Focuses on our lot and there are NO changes, although Motor Trend says it will be a re-design. Also, I have heard NOTHING about the new diesel engine in the F-series which according to my sources will not debut until 2008-2009MY. **** Motor Trend.

Also it was announced today that the new super dutys will be a late arrival. They have been delayed until January and will be called 2008's.

I've been told by insiders that this delay is from problems with the 6.4 liter Powerstroke. The chassis is ready to go, everything else is just waiting on all the bugs to get ironed out of the new diesel.

I would say your insiders are spot on and probably talking about things that they're not supposed to be.....

Yes they stated in the news story it was due to the Navistar. I think it's about time they find a different desiel for the Ford trucks. Something that works as it's supposed to, instead of constantly hearing about problems with them.

The delay with the 6.4 is because of the extra testing they are doing to them. Ford has several 6.4 in the current superduty driving across the country, trying to push the motor as hard as they can. Ford does not want to have the same problems as they do with the 6.0. The 6.4 will go on sale in 08. I've heard the development of the 4.5 liter for the f150 has stalled, due to the development of the 6.4. The new 6.4 should be much more reliable then the current 6.0. Also, Ford is planning on putting a 5 speed automatic transmission in the f150 somewhere in the near future.

I haven't seen the news story but I know what our secrecy agreement says.

It's going to take some political and legal wrangling to get another player under the hood anytime soon more than likely, contracts and non-compete clauses being what they are. I figure there are a few manufacturers that would like to get a crack at placing an engine in the F series. Last I heard, Ford was none too happy with the mess they have on their hands with the 6.0. Cummins is wrapped up by DCX and Cat has publicly stated they have no intentions of getting into the light duty on-road applications, but I suppose they could go with a foreign manufacturer.

The 4.5 has been finished and on the road for some time, just not in the f-150, but in the LCF. I guess the thing with the 150 is the 4.5 currently does not meet the new low sulfer diesel standerds so they cant use it in the 150.

A 'source' told me the 6.4 is the last 'powerstroke' ford will be useing and that international has a new line of motors comming out for ford around 2010. Everything from a 6 for LD and a new 8 for HD trucks and suvs.

Yeah you're right but the 2008 Focus is going to get a much needed new look. Last weekend we ran 70 of them, I think they will be an instat hit.
