If it ain't broke...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I don't say that a lot since I'm all for preventative maintanence, but in this situation, if it tracks straight, you should be fine.

I swapped FX4 18" wheels and Michelins onto my 05 XLT that had the chrome wheels and Han****'s, and it couldn't gone better. It tracks as straight as it did before, but now I have a better ride, better traction, better looks, and my vibration at 45-50 and highway speeds is now GONE!

Being an ex alignment tech I would recommend it. Since the wheels have different offsets they change the track width of the truck this can affect the toe in. Just because it drives straight doesnt mean the alignment is right and it wont prematurely wear out your tires. Most places will check your alignment for free anyway.

Ive been having probems with my new set up shaking my wheel at highway speeds. I have had the tire shop here in town balance the tires 3 times now with no avail. I am starting to think the rims are not perfectly round, but had a friend tell me alignment may be to blame. Could this be the problem that i have been having?

GotBeer-

I hadn't thought about it in regards to the toe-in. You have a valid point, and being a alignment guy, you definitely overrule me.

That bring up the question: what is the offset difference between the 17" Chrome XLT rims and the 18" FX4 rims?

For tires, I went from 235/75R17 Han****s to 255/70R18 Michelins. The difference in diameter is about an inch.
