Odd reverse wire problem
Odd reverse wire problem
For those that have put in a back up camera and located the sensor wire.
I am switching to a different head unit and need to find the reverse light wire.
The manual says it is black with pink, running down the passenger sill. There is a black and pink stripped wire there, but it does not show voltage when the reverse lights are on. It is the same color/size as the reverse light wire that I have tapped at the back that powers my reverse camera just fine.
But no voltage through it at the passenger sill.
I have seen several posts saying use the dark green with yellow wire in the passenger sill. Don't have one that color.
So the small black with pink stripe has no voltage and there is no dark green with yellow.
So which wire, where?
I could run a wire from the rear where the camera is hooked up but that seems ridiculous since the wire must be in there somewhere...

If you can't find it, let me know, I'll pop my sill plate and snap you a pic.....

The black with pink wires are on each side but they don't get hot when the reverse lights are on.

Thanks for the work, I appreciate it. No luck though. I have all the wires out where I can look at them one at a time, no green with yellow or even white. Two small green with orange, a white with green strip, a solid green. That's all.
This is starting to look like a problem.

19 wires from the factory run down that channel. I have also added a ten gauge wire for my power seats.
No green with yellow.
Nuts.

Got it. I just went to the main circuit box and found where the green with yellow wire went into the circuit box, just above the fuses. Stripped, spread and inserted a wire for the automatic back up monitor. There is no green with yellow wire in either channel of my STX. I have no clue why the two obviously correct black with pink wires did not show voltage, but now I don't need them anyway.

Guys,
I'm trying to find this wire in the door sill but there must be 100 wires in my screw.
SO I'm looking above the fuse box and I see two thin green with yellow stripe wires and one thick green with yellow stripe wires. I don't have a way to test the wires. Can someone tell me which one it is?

Duke, I didn't tie into it inside the sill, I tapped it above the fuse box. Much easier really. Less wiring, less routing. The glove box comes off with two screws at the bottom, then look above the fuse box. There is a junction above there with a fairly thick green with yellow stripe wire. I separated the insulation there and spread the wire with a small screwdriver, threaded a short lead with a connector on the end into that. Three minute job, no pulling up sills, no routing.
