'05 F-150 questions

I am having a few problems with my truck. The truck vibrates between 50-70mph, not heavily, but it is enough to pester me. I have taken it to the shop 3 times and the mechanics keep telling me that the tires are "bad." They are new tires with only 9500mi of wear. Anyone else having problems with these general ameritracs? Mine are feathering and are getting cut up real bad (I have only driven down two dirt roads). There is also a vibration upon braking that seems to be getting worse. Any help with these issues would be appreciated.

It very well might be your tires. I had the same problem from 5-8k miles with my 17" mich tires but i just went an bought a set of fx4 wheels and tires and put them on and the problem went away rides alot better. The fx4 wheels also arent that expensive anymore esp if u find it on ebay and u can just go pick them up. thats my 2 cents

IF your dealer doesn't have the Hunter Road Force machine, go to one who does and they will balance or replace your tires. Also, your front brake rotors are warped. They will turn them first, then if in 2k -5k miles they get bad again they will replace. There are TSB's for these items so they are all covered under warranty. I was afraid to put 20's on my truck because of the balancing sensitivity but when I got them I had them road forced and they run real smooth. You want less then 2 oz total per tire weights and a RF under 20...15 or less with factory tires. General tires are crap.

I second that the Generals are crap. I usually feel some vibration in mine when I crank up and get out of the neighborhood first thing in the morning, but it goes away after driving for a few minutes. I usually can't tell if I have a real problem since I normally drive through town not really don't get on the interstate so that I can drive more than 55 mph legally. Since I have only about 9500 miles on the truck, I guess that I have a while before I can really justify buying new tires.

Keep taking the truck back until you're satisfied. There are lots of stories here about tires being replaced because of the vibration issue. Like a lot of others I had the vibration issue as well. I kept taking my truck back. Finally, they (Ford) replaced all 4 Ameritrak tires with 4 new Ameritrak tires. For whatever reason, the wobble/vibration was gone.

Then I swapped tires and wheels.
