Question Westen Bull Bar and Front Reciever Hitch?????

so i like the westin bull bar cause i think out of all that i have seen it looks the best, my question is since it eliminates my tow hooks, can i still mount the front reciever also, how low does the bull bar come down?
here is a pic of the front reciever(i got off another thread)

THANKS!!

Hey! That's MY truck!

That's a Draw-Tite front receiver, and it mounts to holes through the side of the frame, not using the tow hook mounts at all. The receiver would mount with or without the tow hooks. I'm not sure how the bull bar mounts - if it bolts to the side of the frame it might use the same holes that the receiver does - that could be a problem.

im pretty sure that the brackets from the bull bar bolt up to where the tow are bolted to, i just want to make sure that the bull bar wont cover up the hitch reciever.

That makes sense - I'm not into the bull-bar look, so I haven't studied how they mount or where they sit. I think someone makes a bull bar with a front receiver in it (maybe Warn?). I doubt that any bull bar has anything that crosses over lower than the bumper, but you might need an extension on anything you mount in the hitch to get it out in front of the bull bar!

Update - I just looked at the Westin site, and it looks like the skid plate part of the bar would definitely get in the way.

i dont really plan on using the hitch that often i just wanted to have a recovery piont in case i need it, cause if i get the bull bar it eliminates the tow hooks.

I do think the skid plate / skirt I saw on the Westin bull bar would get in the way of using the hitch.

It should be pretty easy to get someone to fabricate flat plates with tow holes in them to bolt on to the side of the frame (like the mounting brackets for the Draw-Tite receiver). I wouldn't buy the receiver just for a pull-point.

But that's just me . . . . .

The bottom of the skid plate is almost flush with the bottom of the air dam. I will try to get you a better picture of it tomorrow.
