New pics of truck, painted mirrors, trailer, dyno, etc.

Thought I'd share some new pictures of the truck. Nothing fancy, but this shows the newly painted mirrors and the truck and trailer from the drive up. I have the new fender flares painted, and the chin spoiler and grille insert are freshly painted and ready to be installed. I didn't want to put them on the truck before the long drive and risk chipping them up.

Here is the truck on the dyno at Whipple. I think Dustin and his crew spent nearly 3 full days tuning the truck and developing the 10psi upgrade kit. The mirrors don't look very glossy because they were covered in bugs from the drive to Fresno from Vegas. I had to make the 800 mile round trip twice, followed by a couple hundred mile round trip to get the trailer in Arizona, topped off with a 3320 mile one way drive to Alaska. Not bad for one week.

Here is Whipples 2004 SEMA F-150. Sweet little truck! You can see that the dyno was elevated. We were able to access the cats easily to hook up the wideband air/fuel meter at the first cat to get a true reading of the engines air/fuel ratio.

Here is the truck with my 7X16 Interstate Cargo trailer coming up the Alcan. The colors actually match up pretty well, but the sunlight was catching the truck and trailer different. I got lots of compliments on the ride on the way up the highway. Had to fill up 21 times totalling 419 gallons of gas. We got 8mpg on the trip, but were able to cruise up hills easily with all the extra power and torque. Most of the time we were in overdrive up until we got some bad gas in Canada and plugged the fuel filter and an injector.

In northern BC we took it slow. Animals were all over the road. This was the morning after a long nights drive which we had to do 35 in the hills because elk and deer were all over the roads. We made the 3320 mile trip in 2 days, 17 hours, only stopping once for over an hour because we had to wait for a gas station to open up. Here is a little black bear that wanted to check out the truck. He came up within a few feet of my front door, but finally headed off the side of the road. Nice chip, eh?

Even I wouldn't let a bear get that close to my truck, I've seen what they do to cars in Yosemite. You must have let all that smalltalk go straight to your head if you think you can take him on too, crazy eskimo's.

Only kidding, awesome trip and pics, the sema truck is nothing special next to yours. I dig the tonneau (snuglid?) though. What do you think of the Roush hood scoops quality?

Nah, I ain't scared of no bear.

Actually, I was a little nervous when he started getting a little closer because he might of scratched the truck. My 2003 F150 has a bunch of scratches on it from grizzly bears. I'm actually heading out tonight to go bowhunting for grizzly's.

He got a little closer than this, then thought better of it and walked off the road...

I like the Roush Hood Scoop, it is made well, and the paint has held up great. The shop shaved the pegs so they didn't have to drill into the hood. No problems in 100+ degree heat, 145 mph runs or car washes.

Made a decision that Ford should have made

https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?num=11172

Two weeks after purchase, I took it apart to get the UGLY BLACK mirrors, door handles, tailgate assy and grille painted to body color.
FORD should have their butts kicked for putting that black crap on their top of the line truck.
Total cost $580.00

Very impressive numbers. What did Whipple charge you for all their dyno and tuning?

That looks like a great job. Did they sand your originals or what?

The labor wasn't too much, they charged me for a few hours. They spent the majority of the time refining the tune since it will be used as a baseline for the upgrade kit when they offer it down the road. Parts were around $400 for the injectors, plugs, MAF and smaller pully.

XTRUKY, that looks good. I agree, on the KR and Lariat models, they should of at least done something different with the mirrors and handles. I got charged about the same, $588 for the mirrors, fender flares, roush chin spoiler and grille insert. At least we have unique looking trucks now that they are painted and Ford keeps cranking out those black matte mirrors.

Josiah, no bears out last night so I'm still around.
