Son Of A B...! PIE Problem

Ok, I am sitting in the truck today listening to the Phillies/Brewers game on my XM as I'm enjoying my Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese, large fries and large chocolate milkshake.

I didn't turn the key one notch after I shut the truck off and was listening to the radio until it timed-out and went off on its own. Then I turned the key a notch. But after I turned the key, my factory radio wasn't recognizing the P.I.E. anymore.

Is this something that will self-correct if I simply disconnect and reconnect the battery when I get home? Anyone encountered this problem before?

Did you try pushing the "AUX" button again? I've had two PIE's now (original had to be replaced), and this new one does that. Whenever the power is cut, then the radio goes back to the previous spot it was in, be it the CD player or radio. All I have to do is push the "AUX" button, and all is well again.

Hope that helps.

That has happened to me before, but this is different. Now when I push the AUX button it reads, "NO AUX AUDIO" and the picture of the headphones is gone.

Ahhhhh, I see. Sorry I couldn't be of help. Since taking off the trim is so easy, I'd just look back there and check everything.

When you sent it back for a replacement, please tell me they only made you send back the box. I'd hate to have to unsplice all the wires back there.

Good news! I disconnected the battery when I got home. Reconnected it about three minutes later and everything went back to normal. P.I.E recognized! Whew!

Makes my day a little better after the Phils got swept by the Brewers.

Nice to see that you are enjoying the unit Josiah. I'm glad you got it too. I was about to e-mail you to check and see if it had arrived yet. No clue what to tell you for a fix. I never had the problem the entire time I had the unit.

You snapped a small release tab which proved to be an interesting challenge when I had to take it back off the headunit but other than that it was flawless. I'm very happy. Guigster, thanks to one of the posts I found in a thread you made, my switched hot lead was the same as yours.

Guigster, I tried the battery disconnect also, only worked a fewdays and then went out again, hope you don't have that same problem, and yes had to send the whole unit back, but PIE did send the replacement before hand so when I had to take out had the new one to replace it. same thing again finally replaced the new chips they burned for me and same problem ,after abouta month of going back and forth I had enough and pulled it out and sent it back for credit. good luck

Well that's not what I wanted to hear Dakota. I don't know why it would have done that at that particular time. Instead of leaving my radio on when I exit the truck, I'll turn it off first. Maybe it was a power surge or something with the instant power cut?

Josiah,

Yes. Thank goodness my dad had one of those voltage screwdriver looking things I could poke in the holes. I'd have been super p'd off if I spliced into the wrong wire. I also have the same feeling as you about the P.I.E. It has made me purposely take the truck more because of the now great sounding audio. And powering it behind the dash has made it less annoying and much cleaner looking inside. I hated plugging and unplugging the cigarette adapter and having the wire strung across my dash.
