Ever put the radio bezel back in and forget the antenna?:o
That's how I know. Didn't have time to pull it back off and drove around for two days with the antenna line loose.
The wire itself forms part of the antenna.

As little as I listen to AM/FM as opposed to satellite or my ipod, I could ditch my antenna altogether! I think a cool mod would be DRL's. The kit from Ford is expensive, but I bet theres a way to do it without that kit.

KC-10 FE out...
Antenna Length
With regards to antenna length, a different or shorter length might equal lesser recption ability than the stock antenna but according to my ears and the stock stereo's ability to tune, I have never had a reason to worry.
I installed a $25.00 whipp antenna on my 2000 SS Camaro about a week after the car arrived and have never looked back. It was the cheapest, easist, and least expensive mod I have ever done to a vehicle.
When my 07 Lariat Screw arrives, I plan on doing the same.
From a scientific standpoint, the larger the antenna, the better the reception.
From a motor vehicle standpoint/consumer standpoint, a short 12" long whipp antenna vs a stock antenna will not make a diddly bit of difference.

I will admit, half the time on here I lie about how good someones truck looks. I am sure you do. If someone posted a pic of their truck you wouldnt say "Hey your truck looks like ****!! Nice Job!" even though it does. I tried not to criticize anyone personally on here just these mods in general. I am sorry if I came across that way.

I love the DU-HA. It is like having a foot locker stuffed under the rear seat. Mine does not make any noise while driving. But then, I keep it pretty well filled with my stuff.
