If they're using a GSP9700, on the right side of the monitor there's three dials. The top one will adjust from ounces to grams to check how fine the imbalance is.

Thanks very much for all this info. Really appreciate you guys and this forum.

I took a case of beer to the Ford shop today on the way to pick up my truck for doing all this extra work. It was well received. Looks like I will be doing the same at Discount Tire this week too.

Fine tune=case of beer round these parts.

Grand Prairie Ford. And since I don't want to force the greatness of RollingRock on just anyone, I elected to take Miller Genuine Draft. Felt it was about the middle of road of beers.

Looks like you are a local to Tarrant Co....Keep those ?Fighting Falcons in the air bro!!

When I put my 20's on (with 305/50/20 Falkens) I had a TERRIBLE shake on the front over 50mph. Had them road forced, found one tire (front left) out of round. Swapped that to the back (while I await a new tire)....but I still get a tad bit of shake over 50mph and cornering. I spoke to the owner at the wheel shop (he does all of the wheel/tire work for a local Ford dealer) and he said the new F150's are essentially a huge PITA to get smooth after new wheels/tires. Even prior to working on my truck he gave me the whole, "I can't guarantee anything on this truck" deal, DOH!

Just some info...they too, have the Hunter Road force balancer.....

Thanks , and good luck. Let us know how you make out. I'm switching to 275/55/20" tires (Hankook RH06) end of this week as well and I'll report back as well. I'm really hoping that my truck didn't like the size of the tire, or the Falken in general...we'll see.

Rolling rock is my favorite swill. I guess the RR would've been kind of expensive to take that to the shop, and the guys would be like what the hell. I drink that and I have taken a liking to zigen bock too. I don't know about GP ford too much, but I take my truck to hillard in fort worth. I have a friend there (ase mechanic) and he fixes me up pretty good.

Make sure you request "no impact guns" whe having the wheels installed. There was a bulletin on this and warping of the brake rotors/wheels. Request hand torque only.

After much time and frustration, I took mine to the dealer and said, "DO NOT CALL ME UNTIL IT'S FIXED." They pretty much replaced everything from the transmission back. Many times. 5 or 6 sets of tires, a few sets of wheels. Nothing fixed it. The Field Service Engineer told me he was tired of working on it and they were replacing my truck. No more problems.

Good luck man. I dealt with this for longer than I wanted. If you're tired of dealing with it, get tough, play hard, and make it go away.

Well I thought I was going down this path until yesterday when i drove my truck at ford using their tires and wheels off an 06. Drove just fine. For me, I have a bad wheel/wheels and tire/tires to locate.

Glad you got yours taken care of.

Hey folks....an update on my truck.

Went back to discount tire today...they put both front wheels back on the roadforce machine to see how off the dealership was to theirs. Left Front was 26 Ford said it was 32. Right Front was 15, Ford said it was at 16.

So they did end up putting another tire on the Left Front and got the wheel to 4 lbs on the road force test with only .50 once of balance weight. Right Front they got to 5 lbs road force and only .50 once of weight. Took the truck back out on the highway and got up to 60 the first bench mark. smooth. 65, smooth, 70 smooth but now feeling like I had 20 inch wheels...75 no steering wheel shake and on to 80 no shake....rough ride, yes I can say they ride rougher than a 18 inch tire, but the steering wheel wasn't jumping out of my hands. And for that...I can live with it.

Now the big trick will be when I rotate the tires....we didn't index the back but they were only around 10lbs of road force...so when it is time, we'll do those too just to make sure.

Is it perfect or like glass....well I wouldn't go that far, at least not glass. Having 20's is somewhat of an acquired taste I guess but it's better than getting tendinitis while driving.

Follow up thoughts anyone?

Use of a torque limiting driver is okay when using an impact gun. It's tire monkeys that zip 'em on with an impact gun and a 21mm socket, those are the ones to worry about.

26 lbs is way too much for any tire on these trucks. 4-5 lbs is excellent, 10 lbs is livable. I think you'll be okay.

How do I check on this issue? I would like to look into this for my truck since I got it in 11/03.
