Raising the XLT Center Console

Anyone else find that the XLT console sits about an inch to an inch and a half too low?

I am thinking of adding legs or building a riser.

The only thing is I think the entire base supports the console. If you were to put legs between the console and the floor as spacers I think the plastic bolt holes will break out. I know my tow front bolt holes busted very easily and I had to make a metal washer for the inside to be able to bolt it down. Besides that you would have a one inch gap under the console and that would look like chit IMO.

Yes, I agree. I always thought the console was just a little too low... I took it down to a local auto upholstery shop and had them cover it in black leather, and at the same time add about 1 1/2" of padding. Now it's just the right height. Look in my gallery for pics. Since the pics have been taken, I've also replace the gray console handle with a black one. Looks OEM now.

That is absolutely my only complaint thus far. Why in gods name did they make the console so low? Can't lower the seat any more and can't raise the console. After around 100 years of car making, you'd think they'd get the basics down. I'll be adding a pad to mine in quality fashion at some point.

I think my arm rest in a good spot, and I'm 6'3". Maybe that's why my back has been bothering me lately.

Just put one in last week. For me at 6'7" with monkey arms, the height is fine but I think it's a little too far forward. My elbow ends up in the rear cup holder. Thinking about 1) moving it back somehow or 2) finding some way to fill the rear cup holders and make them level with the lid.

My race notebook has been on top of the console since day one and its about 1-2" tall. I can't even drive the truck now with it off, I feel like I'm going to fall over.
