I'm sure this topic will get a bunch of different opinions and that is ok with me. Anyways....
I've got a 04 Lariat stock. I love the look of a modestly lifted truck with more aggressive tires. I dont want too much because I need to keep the towing, payload, and driveability of the truck. With that said I'm looking for a nice compromise.
I go to the mountains once or twice a year and tackle an off-road trail that gets pretty dicey at certain times and I've bottom out once or twice. My guess is that is due to the soft shocks of the lariat. I go through some mud holes but nothing excessively deep.
Being a complete novice with regards to lifts, etc what would be a nice start.
Requirements:
I'm keeping the stock rims (18").
Still need to be able to tow and haul
No rubbing or driveability issues.
Got to look good.

Maybe I want too much...cake and eat it too type of scenario. If that is the case....stock is where it will stay.

Depending on how concerned you are with towing/gas mileage/performance I would think about a couple of diffrent options. How much money you want to spend is also a big factor
- 1.5" Autospring with 33" tires
- 2.5" Autospring and Skyjacker Add-A-Leaf with 35" tires
-Donahoe Racing Coilovers with 33" or 35" Tires
-King Coliovers with 33" or 35" Tires
I personally think that these trucks look very good with and agressive 33" tire and a small levleing kit. And you keep the trucks stock towing and drieability.

Gas mileage really doesnt matter.
I've got an XCAL 2 and running the 93 Perf tune so performance is important.
I'll spend the money if it is worth it....I looked up the AS lift and that looks really inexpensive...

I say a 2.5" AS or Daystar spacer with a set of 35x12.50 BFG M/Ts. However, since you're going to be running a tire thats much heavier than stock and the stock shocks suck, I'd say you should change them out at the same time. Either the Bilsteins or the Rancho adjustable shocks. If you don't want to do that, you could just go with the Rancho kit and run the same tires. Actually if you don't want the BFG M/Ts, my next recomendation would have to be the Toyo Open Country M/Ts. Theres plenty of options of what you want you want to do.

Thanks for the advice gents....I've got an off-road/4x4 shop not to far from here. I'll swing by them and get their pricing,etc I just want ideas before I go....I'll likely just print this thread adn take ti with me....
