Kenwood Ddx-6019 Vs. Pioneer Avic-z1
#17
I have purchased the 6019. It's in my garage. I skipped the GPS for now
but have the ipod adapter and a camera.
I have no idea when I'll have time to install it but when I do, I'll file a complete report with pictures. My truck has factory Sirius but I don't think that I'll continue with it. Or miss it. The 6019 will play mp3 and or wma from dvd.

Here you go:
go to www.techbargains.com
search for kenwood 6019...
cheapest one that comes up is 718.00 from a real dealer and not just ebay.
Have fun.

Question for you kenwood guys - where is the navigation dvd stored at? In the seperate piece or do you have to put it in the DDX-6019 DVD slot??

I am stoked, I just ordered the Kenwood dvd player and its sitting in my room right now! I am just waiting for the iPod connector and the PAC SWI-X Steering Wheel Radio Control Interface (allows me to use my steering wheel controls with my aftermarket deck) to show up so I can install everything.

The Pioneer AVIC Z1 has all the features you or I could want. However, the problem with the Z1 is the fact that they buttons light up blue at night. This is a big contrast to the green that is used throughout our trucks.
I'm just a stickler for the details (****) which would make that purchase difficult. I'm currently searching for night pictures of the kenwood to see what color its buttons light up.
I love the look of the eclipse units but they don't have the BT and XM ( I really want/need the XM NavTraffic).
So right now it's
Pioneer AVIC Z1 - perfect just don't like the blue buttons
Kenwood 6019 with add-ons -
Alpine Unit - looks kind of cheap, but has all the neccessary features
ONE HUGE THING NOBODY IS LOOKING AT!!!
You really should want this thing to loose memory when it's disconnected. If you think about it, what if someone was to steal it. Then it would have your personal information (your address and those of loved ones) stored on it's system.

Hmm then in that case it would be a better thing to go with than the Pioneer AVIC Z1?
Does the Kenwood have RDS? Where it picks up the name of the song and artist on local radio stations?
I mean after adding all the "accessories" to the Kenwood, they'd be the same.
I really want-
matching green buttons
XM NavTraffic
RDS
Navigation
BlueTooth
Ability to Play DVDs
Hard drive to store songs
There is just too many options to sort through.

So I've been researching like crazy and can't find very many installed pictures of the 6019 Kenwood, if any.
I could find a bunch of the Z1 though.
Looks like the only difference between the two (once you add accessories to the Kenwood 6019) is :
Hard drive-
Z1 = yes
6019 = no
Button color (important to match our dash at night)-
Z1 = blue
6019 = red or green
That's about it from what I've read. Not sure on quality of screens or power to the speakers.
One big thing that none of them have is RDS (showing local radio stations song name and artist). This is a basic feature that even the stock system has, along with speed compensated volume. How are these not features?
EDIT: Say your response. Thanks! Can someone take night time pictures with the dash lights on of the 6019 and/or pictures of it in operation?
