Thumbs up Anyone Else Running An astrostart?

I'm going ahead and putting in my order for the 2106.

I'm not really in need of a car alarm. Just remote starter and want my keyless entry to transfer over.

Anyone else here running this?

Because of it being made in canada you get 2000 plus feet of range out of there units. Pretty sweet. From what I hear they are very reliable too.

I have one on my 2004, range is fantastic, The truck starts every time from the 3rd floor of the opposite side of my grandparents concrete apartment block. I have only had it for a little over a month so I cant comment on the reliability but I have never heard of any problems.

I say "git 'er done"

What does Canadian manufacture have to do with the range of the unit?

Just curious...because there are lots of units with that kind of range. Methinks a salesman has been blowing smoke up your pants...

I read a post from a member on here that in canada the fcc are not as strict on remote controlled devices allowing longer range for such electronics as remote starters.

I'm Glad i'm getting a good response from you guys.

p.s. I have yet to see another system with 2000ft range?

ok I'm getting conflicting information.

I have an 05 f150. I believe I need the Ford 3 module correct?

This meaning I need the bypass for the ignition only not the locks right?

What does this all entail?

thanks for any little bit of help you can offer.

well I bought it last night.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

He has some more on the auction. Pretty sweet deal and he is an authorized seller so the lifetime warranty is not lost.

Don't get me wrong, Astrostarts are a great unit, it's all a buddy of mine sells in his shop.

DEI (Viper, My Valet, etc.) has a number of units with 2000 foot range and up.

Just to clear the air, I have no idea if Canada has a version of the FCC, which is an American governmental institution. Even if they do, Whether they approve it or not would have no bearing on whether it is legal for sale in the US.

Astrostart units that are legal to be sold in the US are sold in the US, and that has no reflection on what is legal in Canada...get what I mean?

I was just wondering if you'd been sold on Astrostart because it was "Magically Canadian" or something...

You need the PKF3 bypass module or a Ford 1L2Z-19G365-AB module.

The guys at best buy who installed it liked it better than any of there remote starters such as viper, python, etc.

Hands down the best range I've ever witnessed. And every rep with every system has tried to impress me with there new "world beater" beater being the more realistic name. We sell ford, all dei, all code, and all astro models, astro blows them all away with range. Like I said before my girlfriend, my mother, my sister, and my race engine builders wife, all have astro rem starts, which one would you want to **** off with a piece of junk system

Had a couple of these and they are great. Super range and excellent reliability. Good luck and have fun cooling or warming up your vehicle before you get in. Man that is nice.
