I did 20% up front and 35% on the rear doors and back window. I think 20% out back would made it night time visability more difficult.

I've got 15% on the fronts, it matches good but its not dark enough for me. I think Im going to just get 5% on all four windows.

We didn't even talk about % when I had mine done. I just asked for darkest legal all around. The back windows have the same tint as the front, but that's over the factory tint. I have no problems seeing out of the front side windows at night, but I can't really tell I have backup lights through the rear.

Are you a window tint guy? Or did you get it done? I live in Plano, and I've gone with Formula One in the past from Earmark... I need a similar look to this one...

What about our Texas tint laws? Please advise. Thanks.

Tx law is 25% up front and as long as you have side mirrors, no rule for rear.

This is what the state inspection says

20.32 Window Tinting. All 1988 or newer model vehicles that have window coating, tinting, or sunscreening applied to the windows must be inspected for the following:
1. Inspect for and reject if:
a. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windshields:
1) Extends downward beyond the AS-1 line or more than five (5) inches from the top of windshield on vehicles without an AS-1 line. Measurements shall be taken from inside the windshield; or
2) Is red or amber in color.
b. Glass coating or sunscreening devices on windows:
Windows immediately to the right and left of the driver, which open, have less than 20% light transmittance.
c. Check calibration before rejecting vehicle.

Found here http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/publ...ch42.htm#20.32

FYI I have 3M advertised 20% tint but when the meter is placed on it, it reads 17% this is failing by the letter of the law, fortunatly for me I live in a small town and they tend to look the other way.

Well it looks like I'll go with 20% over the rears and then see how that makes the fronts look. Depending on how the test swatch looks though, I might go with 15% over the rears to make sure you can't see in the back.

Then maybe I'll try talking him into 20% or 25% up front.

I didn't feel like reading everything, but I've got 5% all around. It's really dark. You can't see in or out.
But seriously, if I'm not in a lighted area at night I have to put my windows down so that I can see when in reverse. If you have the reverse sensors I wouldn't worry about it. I love the look and it really helps here in the hot FL sun.

Now that is uber dark. I'm going to try either 15% or 20% on the rear doors and back and see how that looks next to the 35% on the fronts. Then we'll see if I can talk him into 20% or 25% on the fronts.

PS. Reading other threads just now I've confirmed 2 things.

1. Josiah is flat out CRAZY!

2. The "line of fire" LED lights are really growing on me and I'm going to look into those and the chrome third LED brake light because I figure the OEM one already looks pretty chrome or white.

I actually had it done by Paul at EXPERTINT in Frisco, (Preston and ******* Parkway). He originally did the legal limit, wich is 35 in the front, It wasnt dark enough for me, and it was not done properly, so I went back and had him change it to 20%. They use 3M tint over there...

The trick to being able to see out, at nighttime, is a tinted windshield.

Lights from outside shine in through the windshield and reflect off the inside of the side and rear glass.

If you tint the whole windshield, even a little ( ie:50% ) it makes all the difference.

In addition, this makes all the windows 'appear' much darker during the day.

The problem is finding a shop that will do it.

I agree Kool Aid, there is a ton of glare with your side windows being so dark. that is why i have always tinted the whole windshield makes a huge difference, plus the visor or eyebrow strip i never liked.

Hey, check my gallery, I got 5% 3M all the way around on my truck. I do have to let down the windows at night to back up, but its worth it to me. The trick around here to get shops to do it is to pay in cash, they wont give you a reciept, but thats how to get it done here. Also, the police dont care at all. State troopers have the equipment to check your tint, but they are far and few in between here. The local deputys and cops dont even have the equipment to check your tint, so they cant do anything. Not that they would if they could :-)
