More BOOM..

I have the upgraded stereo with Sub and was wondering what options I may have to get more bass (BOOM) without changing the stock stereo.

And a better sub. Get yourself an amp and good 10" sub and it will blow away the factory.

I would add either an electronic crossover or an equalizer (the crossover is the better option). You would just plug the RCAs from your HU (I assume you have a line out converter) into it and then run RCAs from it your amp. You can then boost the bass going to the sub and still not send too much to your door speakers. IMO this would be one of the best improvements you can do at this point without changing the HU.

That factory sub is actually quite nice, good question. I dig the crossover suggestion Ram, whats a good crossover make/model?

You know I mis-read his post...I thought he said he UPGRADED his factory stereo with a sub. Adding a crossover to the factory sub would be a royal PIA. But if someone adds a sub and wants to add a crossover I used a Sony unit for years in several cars I had that I added subs to but didn't want to change the HU (a GTA Trans AM, 2 Vettes and a Camaro SS). I bought that crossover about 10 years ago but I assume Sony still makes good one...the Pioneer sound processor I have in my truck has all the same features (plus a lot more) but it wouldn't be as practical an add on as a 1/2 DIN size crossover or EQ.

Let me rephrase...

I have the Audiophile setup (upgraded Stereo and Speakers with Sub). I was hoping I could patch into the headunit and add a crossover/amp to power an aftermarket Sub. Dont know if the HU allows for this. Otherwise its not woth the hassle but I like the stock look to keep the thieves away.

check out the JL audio stealthbox. It looks stock and it bolts to the underside of your seat brackets, so theives will have one hell of a time getting it out of your truck.

I wish the head unit would allow you to adjust each speaker volume separately. I like the bass from the sub but sometimes I want to control it down a little as it can make your teeth chatter.

Yes. For an 8", it does an ample job vibrating all the seats, mirrors, and windows. In the Supercrew, roll all 4 windows down, double your bass.

I actually think its the opposite....I put my windows down or open my sunroof and the bass seems weak to say the least. Roll em up and it hits much harder...just my 2 cents

No offense guys because everyone has their own opinion but come on now. If you really think the stock 8" sub is worth something you're smoking something good, I guess its alright for people who don't care about SQ or SQL. But, a Kicker K7 8" would be like night and day compared to that thing. .

I have "passed" through a rap station a time or two and that little squirt hit pretty hard. That sub does me plenty for my country, I would sure like to amplify everything but it's not a priority of mine. I feel like running those civics over for rattling my huge *** truck...

It's no Rockford Fosgate, but it works quite well with the 6 disc MP3 head unit. I have a 15" JBL enclosure that will make your hair fall out, but I took it out of the Explorer a long time ago. It quietly sits in the corner of the garage now.

The right music is everything, and many of us don't care to rattle the truck apart with bass that will make your fillings fall out.
