i'm not looking for some mega 4 inch wannabe exhaust. i'm looking for a deep throaty sound thats a noticable bit louder that what is achieved after removing the intermediate pipe but not as loud and raspy as open headers. something in between.

Fact is that our cats flow extremely well, and removing them really does not gain much, if anything.

Also, removing them is a federal offense, regardless of whether or not you have emissions testing in your area.

Where did you get this information. I removed my cats and if you look inside it, it appears clogged with wired screens and absorbent material.

Why not?

Because tampering with working emissions equipment is illegal. And you're likely to cause more grief than good by removing all the converters and trying to keep the CEL off and keep the truck running properly.

As you can tell based on my previous posts, I'd never hack my exhaust. Hence the reason I went with the Roush Street Legal catback...

However, Federal offense or not I don't see the authorities coming to anyones door. Now if Midas or someone like that removed them it would be a different story...

Let's look further into ditching the cats & o2 sensors. How is the truck going to react? It's not going to be able to adjust for colder or warmer weather, higher or lower altitude. Therefore the truck would never run the 14.7:1 air:fuel that it's supposed to. Unless it has been perfectly tuned the truck probably wouldn't idle smooth (if at all), and part-throttle accelleration would be crappy as well. Might as well remove ALL electronics & find a way to throw a carb on it.

I guess the high point is it would work GREAT at WOT -- where the O2 sensors arn't used anyways...

rustang???? i take my 91 GT over my 04 f150 supercrew anyday. You better get alot more than what you have before you play with the big dogs.

I was biting my tongue at that comment I just got rid of my '88LX... At nearly 300hp on motor and weighing right at 3,000 pounds not many trucks touched it... oh, then there was the Vortech SQ Trim pushing 18 psi down it's neck!

Ahh, but all that power is currently finding it's way into a 1964 Falcon... should be a nice change of pace.

sounds like a pretty tough combo!! i basically did the h/c/i combo and run 12.80 @ 107. don't get me wrong i love my f150 for all the right reasons, but trying to get in the mustang/ls1 level just isn't practical. Thats why i kept the GT around for. Hope you get the Falcoln up and running soon.
