i need more torque!!!!

hey guys, i just installed some 35" tires about a month ago, and at first i thought that 373 would do just fine, and they do for highway driving, but i find myself floring the truck so much now, it has the 5.4 by the way. i dont want to put so much strain on the trany, is there any other way to fix this besides regearing, or supercharging , like a chip or something, or would it be best to just re gear. also what are the costs and benifits of your opinions. thanks, i need to do something soon so anything you guys put forth will help.
Bo

Man Bofer, all this time without a tuner? Definitely get a tuner and see if you feel the same way, shame on you

Are you in a 2wd or a 4wd?

IF you're in a 2wd I would say get that regeared to 4.56 ASAP. 4wd it is a bit more costly.

The tuner will help, but I doubt it will do what you need to have done: regearing!

I say get it regeared AND get it tuned

Gearing is the right way to do it and the best, a tuner will help also and is a must on these f-150s.

What kind of 35s are you running Bofer?

I just can't believe you're flooring it all the time. Im running pretty much the same set-up with just Flowmasters, K&N Drop in, and the Edge of course on level 3. My truck flat out hauls for something this big and with bigger tires AND Im getting 15.5 mpg!!!

hey thump, im running the new cooper discover stts, they are awesome, just like the toyos pretty much, but are a heavy tire, 81lbs a peiece. but you are saying with the edge, your truck can seriously haul...like i have herd good things about them, read all the articals, etc...but i mean does it really really make a diffrence, worth the 300

Heres my opinion, you want the Edge regardless if you get the gears or not. So, just try out the Edge and if you want more than get the gears. Just curious, how much did you end up paying for them? That doesn't seem too heavy, Toyo Open Country M/Ts are like 97 lbs for a 38x13.50x18.

When I first got a tuner... I installed the tune and took it out for a test drive. My expectations were way too high.... but in time, you realize it IS worth it.

If anything staying at your 3.55 gears and 35" tires is worse strain wise than 4.56 would be.

i have 3:73 gears, but how is that more strain then 4:10s...?? anyway, i just want to put some more ***** on her, right now if i were to try to tow something heavy, it would be hard, i would be downshifting all the time.

will the edge solve my problems you think
