Smile Took a trip down the 1/4!

woot woot

So I went to the track today with Bob from jusnes.com and some co-workers. Took 5 passes.

The best time I could pull was a

2.34 60'
10.62 1/8
16.52 1/4

82.80mph

best reaction was a .6464 (I could use a little more practice on that)

It was real fun. I think the best race while we were there was myself vs buddies 6.0 PS. .2321 Margin!

All in all, yes I didn't buy my truck for a drag machine but it was fun seeing what it would do.

To be honest too, i'm not sure if 4wd really helped or hurt. in and out of it I was running 16.6-16.7. I can't remember what I was in when I ran the 16.5. It felt as if it was running stronger in 2wd but the times didn't reflect anything. When I buy my exhaust i'll be suprised if I break that 16.5 barrier! hehe.

Nice time, my best with chrome 20's was a 17.4 @ 80mph. They must weigh a ton because I have an 04 FX4 with 5.4L and exhaust only at the time. You said you ran it in 4wd? I thought you weren't supposed to drive over 55mph in 4wd?

That sounds right at what I was running with those mods, and same truck pretty much. Why did you need to run it in 4wd though? Would it actually spin bad off the line? The street is a different story, but mine doesn't spin at all off the line at our track, though it is VERY sticky. It just plants and goes so I hate to waste energy spinning all of those 4wd components.

Well, I ran it in 4wd to see if I could launch it better by loading the brakes more. Being my first time to the track with the truck Bob had suggested I try it out. Can't really power brake in 2wd or you'll spin like crazy. I think I ran it 2 times in 4hi and I never spun off the line.

It seemed also about 3/4's the way down the track while in 2wd I could feel more power. So it was a toss up. MY times were pretty much Identical in 2wd and 4wd so I don't know what I was feeling but it was apparantley different. Maybe difference in resistance on driveshafts.

what track are you talking about that is sticky? I went to fayetville.

In the next week or so i'll be ordering my exhaust. Maybe it will take hopefully two-tenths off. I really doubt I will see any difference in times, but one could only hope. lol

I ran at Farmington dragway which is right by my house. I should try that next time I run, load it up and then let the hammer down, but I wonder if I could just switch off 4wd as soon as im rolling.........

I believe you have to be in neutral to disengage 4wd.

It's worth a shot though. Especially with a blower. Get some boost flowing and let her rip. I'd be curious to see if you get a better time or not.

If you have SOTF you don't need to be in neutral.

I don't believe it will disengage under a load though. You usually have to roll out of the throttle briefly.
