Newbie Question about Audiophile subwwoofer

Hello all,
As you can see this is my first post and I'm about to become a 2006 F150 Supercrew owner. The truck I'm going to purchase has everything I want except the Audiophile system. It does have the premium 6 disc head unit (code 586) though. Is this the same head unit for the Audiophile system? Can I add the subwoofer to this head unit? I understand the audiophile has different speakers and subwoofer but I would like to upgrade this head unit to the Audiophile system but I am unsure if this is a simple plug and play. Since I haven't picked up my truck yet I may try to get the dealer to do this conversion to make the sale. Any info is appreciated.

get it now or go aftermarket....it isnt the same HU and for the trouble of putting it in you're better off with a aftermarket.

I love my Audiophile but I wouldnt have put it in if it didnt come with the truck.

Go for aftermarket you can always get great sounding speakers new HU and a really great sounding 10inch sub under the rear seat

Definately true. The audiophile is overpriced and underperforming.

Beefulo, no offense but I strongly disagree. I love the sound that comes from my audiophile, the sub thumps pretty good and the audio is crisp. My home theater system is better but only at really loud volumes. The audiophile is a cheap factory option for what it gives, definitely worth it, you won't regret it (you can resale it on ebay for about what it costs you from the dealer if you decide you don't want it) so whats to lose?

This is my point...for a measly $250 I can get a pretty descent sounding radio that will do me just fine. Having been into high end audio systems and a sound engineer in my youth I appreciate great sound, but it's not something I want to spen a bunch of cash on now. I only keep vehicles about two or three years so when it comes to resale, I don't have to remove stuff.

I fully agree...I'm very happy with my Audiophile, one of the better sounding stock systems I've ever heard for a fair price

Yes, you have to get the Audiophile head unit as well. And as I always mention on here, you have to check under the rear seat to see if you have the sub/amp plug back there. If you don't, you're in for some custom wiring to power up the amp.

Try to get the entire setup on ebay, ebay has it often. However, many times they're sold seperately.
