axle question?

Just wondered if anybody has had any problems with their axles on their trucks. With my insurance company, we have determined that not my wheels or my tires caused my wreck, but a broken axle right behind the rotor. There is a groove in the highway that shows right where i left the pavement. Has anybody else had this problem or is it unique in my incident? Just wondering if i should pursue it further.

Didnt you hit a pothole? I would think anything that broke or failed after that is a mute point.

i did, but i know many people have to drive that same route everyday, though not quite as fast as i was going. Im just asking a rational question about the strength of our axles....i would think that this is an isolated case being that ive never had any probs or heard of any...i think it was more user error than anything. Just probing, thats all.

I understand fishing for other possibilities rather than driver error, or modifications;

(from your sig)
22" Boss 315 series rims on Nitto 305"
Ground Force 3"/5" suspension drop

that could be implicated in an accident, but I think you are barking up the wrong tree on this one. You would be better to go after whoever installed your drop, or sold you the tires/rims. And in both cases, I think you have a weak case. Still, with the right lawyer, anything can be blamed for anything.
