Unhappy Oxygen Sensor

Newbie here lookin for some help giving my truck some more juice. I've added a Diablo programmer, Airaid cold air intake, delta flow flowmasters (of course), and a throttle body spacer to my 4.6 but it's not enough (never is).

I've been doing some looking at oxygen sensor performance chips and i'm wondering if anyone knows if that would be a worthwhile investment, and also how many O2 sensors there are before the engine.

For you more experienced tuners, what can i tweak on my Diablo and how much to squeeze some more juice without seriously risking my engine?

I have never heard of an "O2 sensor performance chip".....I have heard of O2 sensor "elmininators" that go in place of your rear O2 sensors so you can remove the cats and not throw CEL's but not what you are talking about. There are 5 O2 sensors on my truck (only 4 stock, I have one extra for my wideband O2 gauge). One before the cat on each bank and one IN the cats on each bank. If you have all of the above mods and you want more, my suggestion is to go with a set of UD pulleys, possibly an E-fan setup like mine, and maybe a set of headers. That will be about all you can easily do to a N/A truck unless you want to go into the engine a little deeper.....

I've never heard of "oxygen sensor performance chips" either. I was thinking the same thing Matt said about MIL eliminators, but with cats they serve no purpose.

Also, Matt's truck is a 2005 so his downstream HEGO's are threaded into the center of the cats because he only has two large catalytic converters.

Your truck (and mine) are 2004's so we have four small catalytic converters (2 on each side) with the HEGO's threaded into a short exhaust pipe between the two converters.

Consider yourself lucky to have the "old" setup because you can remove the two rear converters and have no worries of a check engine light. That's what I did.

AHHH that is what I was wondering. I kept hearing of 4 cats and I was like....I only have 2 BIG ones. The big ones are still the same I guess, just all integrated into one.

Ok sounds good but just so you guys can check it out here's the link to the O2 performance chip i found on ebay. Apparently it's new technology or it's a scam.

Also, how would i benefit by removing the two small cats?

Nice ride Matt

Thanks! Removing the rear cats just opens up the exhaust a little more and since you have 2 up front, and the O2 sensor is in front of the rears, the CEL won't come on. I am glad you posted a link to what you were talking about. That is 100% scam.........That basically works the same as that intake "chip" that they sell all over ebay and claim 25hp from it. These items are nothing more than resisters and crap that screw up the readings of the O2 sensor and the other one messes with the intake air temp sensor making the computer throw more fuel in and run richer. On todays engines, this will do nothing for performance and is mostly just a waste of gas. Watch out for crap like that that's out there...........25HP from some thing you stick in the O2 sensor wire?? LOL! Give me a break, I hope the guy selling those goes bankrupt and has to sell his home and live on the street
