Cell phone remote unlock

I tried this once don't know if it works all the time. Have your mom(whoever) get your keys with the fob call you on your cell phone, hold your phone close to your truck, have them push the unlock button.

Good luck

P.S. take VIN # to dealer for new key

are you implying that the transmittance signal from the remote is going to travel thru the cell signal-out the phone and to the truck? that would be cool, but im not sold on it yet

that dose work, a freind of mine heard about it, and while I was at his house, he called his wife, and had her hit the unlock button on the other remote for his truck, and sure enough, it unlocked!

I call B.S.

This sounds like an April Fools joke.

Snopes says it's B.S. also........

http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/keyless.asp

I would have to see an independent test of this, before I believe it.

I have three keys... remember, if you loose one, you need TWO to program one key!

That third key is simple insurance that I don't have to take her to the dealership to get another key programmed because I only have one (after loosing one).

In a nutshell -- GET A THIRD KEY!!

As for keeping a spare key handy, you could always find a combination (or secret type) gas cap that stores a spare key. Risky though. Then there's the www.HitchSafe.com for about $90.

we do several things

1 have spare key cut and have in wallet or purse

yes a non chip equipped key will open a door, all is is doing is moving a tumbler just do not try to start the vehicle

a non-chip key will get you inside if your key is in the ignition or hidden else where i the vehicle

have extra keys hidden on the outside of the vehicle
we have 2 keys hidden in the same place on all our vehicles helps if another family member needs to retrive the vehicle when the normal drivers are not able to get the vehicle. you just make sure that no one else knows where the key is hidden

extra keys are the answer, especially those where you can get to them

the key pad is good, but if you have no key then it helps very little
