Best way to install crossovers...

Hello, Well I just got done running the speaker wire up the cab to the front doors.. I heard that the best spot to install the crossovers for comps is inside the arm rest under the window and lock buttons.. Now my only question is how did everyone fasten them to the arm rest? After looking it over the bottom of the arm rest is pretty thin so if I used any sort of screw it would pop through the bottom, which I dont want...

I was thinking double sided sticky tape but I wasnt sure how well it would hold up.

Any others have any insight? Thanks

Matt

I put my crossovers in that spot under the switches, but I just "wedged" the crossover between the door panel and the metal part of the door. You'll see after you pop off the switch cover, there is like a 3/4" gap between the panel and inner part of the door. I just wedged/shoved them in there and they haven't moved since.

That is the same location I mounted my crossovers. 3M will work just fine or the sticky putty junk is what they used when I had mine installed. Works pretty good also. Yeah no need for screw though dude.
Oh yeah what about HD velcro strips? Then you if you need to get in there and move them around or whatever its alot easier then trying to remove the 3M.
Good luck.

I mounted my xovers on the back wall with my amps. I don't know why everyone thinks they have to up by the speakers. Plus, too much moisture can get in the door panel (not necessarily our trucks) but rather be safe.

That's what I did in my S-10. The only down side to that is running all that extra speaker wire. It adds up if you're running a pricey wire.

I put mine under the dash on my old truck and used wire ties to hold them in place.

I put some stick on velcro on the bottom of the crossover and the bottom of the inside of the armrest. It holds them in place just fine.

I doubt that anyone would hear a difference between (let's say) Stinger 12 ga speaker wire and Walmart/Radio Shack 12 ga speaker wire. So, then price shouldn't be an issue

Depends on the size of the crossovers. I've got JL Audio components and they have a HUGE crossover. Passenger side is no problem, but with all the buttons and wires on the drivers side, it would not fit. I just taped and tied it inside the door...through the speaker hole. It's been there for 2 years with no problems. Oh yea, I wrapped it in plastic in case any water gets in there.
