PIE install question
Several guys on here have experienced the same thing. I can scroll through several read-outs when I press the auxillary button: PIE, Aux, Cyrstl-Line, and DVD. The different options have different sound. I can't offer an explanation for the differences.

i searched and there was a lot of discussion about it, wish i had figured out the search before. i dont have a sub under the back seat, and nothing was in the 16 pin connection from the factory.

Is everyone still buying the PIE from http://www.myradiostore.us/auxadapte...frd04-aux.html? And is this the proper one for my '04 (New Style)?
The names the PIE displays have nothing to do with sound quality. That is completely wrong info.
I wrote to PIE and asked about it and here is the response:
The FRD04-AUX uses the DVD input of the factory Ford radio. The factory DVD unit also has an auxiliary input on the front panel so that you can hook up a camcorder, game system, etc.
Therefore, the radio itself can access two "modes" of this DVD input; DVD and AUX. We only use a single input to the radio, but we have to support the radio's request when this button is pressed again.
Crystal-Line is the name of the audio circuitry that our devices use.
There is no difference between the two modes as far as audio is concerned. The reason that the FRD04-AUX can display one or the other is based on how the radio would respond if the factory DVD player was installed. We mimic the factory DVD behavior.
This issue may be addressed in future FRD04-AUX software updates that are planned to include additional models such as the Fusion and Explorer.

Hey, this quote was in an ebay ad for the P.I.E. Has anyone come across this problem?
"NOTE: THERE IS A FIRMWARE ISSUE FOR THE 2005-UP MUSTANG AND 2005-UP FORD 500. THE ISSUE REQUIRES YOU TO LEAVE THE FACTORY 16 PIN DATA CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED FROM THE FRD04-AUX THIS WILL MAKE THE UNIT WORK FINE. TWO DOWNFALLS TO THIS ARE YOU WILL LOSE SPEED SENSITIVE VOLUME CONTROL AND THE RADIO WILL BE IN DIM MODE. PIE HAS ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF WORKING THIS ISSUE OUTUPDATE: THESE ARE THE NEWER FRD04-AUX AND HAVE THE NEW IC CHIP INSTALLED FOR THE PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE ABOVE VEHICLES!!!!!! THE ABOVE PROBLEMS SHOULD NOT EXSIST WITH THESE INTERFACES!!!UPDATE: PLEASE SPECIFY WHICH VEHICLE YOU ARE USING THIS INTERFACE WITH. SOME F-SERIES RADIOS STILL REQUIRE THE OLDER SOFTWARE TO WORK CORRECTLY. WE WILL SHIP YOU THE OLDER OR NEWER SOFTWARE DEPENDING ON YOUR VEHICLE!!!!"

This product is something new to me. I've been thinking about modifying the tray on the top of the instrument panel to hold Sony portable DVD player so when the lid was closed it would be flush with the top of the instrument panel. Could I hook up the audio outputs from this DVD player to the inputs of this PIE device and have the sound play through the vehicle's speakers?
