Josiah, the lift looks good so far, good luck with straightening out the tire problem, that really bites.

I think a truck lift with tires and wheels is more of the AWW effect instead of the new headlights. IMO

Geez look how far it sticks out the the front tires. That looks retarded IMO. Go with Fabtech...

Is not the tire and wheel location relative the the truck a function of wheel backspacing? The lift itself would not move the rotors any more outward or inward than stock.

I was under the same impression. However I like the look of tires sticking out. It gives it a better stance, it looks more porportioned like it isn't riding on tractor tires. IMO. I am curious about quality and if it worth the money though.

The lift is done. But what the hell do these bearings go to? I hope they're from one of my tools and not my truck, just finished lifting the thing. Pics are below.

Josiah did you get the driveshaft spacer in yet?

To get the driveshaft off the rear yoke just thread all 4 bolts in a few threads by hand and beat it off in the forward direction w/ a hammer and big punch.

It shouldn't matter what gear the trans is in to remove the driveshaft. You need so slide the driveshaft forward about 1/8 of an inch to get it over a flange on the yoke, but the slipyoke on the drive shaft should have a few inches of play in it. The driveshaft and the rear end yoke just rust together.

Those look like the ball bearings out of the CV-joints. Are you still getting that clicking sound? If yes than that's where they're from!

Josiah,

Check your comcast email. I just sent you the section on front axleshafts out of the Ford Workshop Manual.

Looks good J', but I would check the CV-joints for the ball bearings.

How did you make out with the rims??

Baja, thanks a lot. I just found a 6th one, so I'm sure it's the cv bearings. Sounds horrible, and definitely could be that. I am trying to think what I'll have to remove to get to this now, the directions start pretty far in that you sent me. I might just take it to have it done if it's cheap (under $50). How the hell did they fall out! By the way, I bent the brakelines so they reach and removed a pushpin for the vacuum tubes so I could pull some slack out of them, everything is connected. What am I going to have to remove to access this. Think anything has been damaged due to this (I drove it around the block twice)? I am so tired of working on it. Anyways, I called discount tire direct and they are going to push for overnight shipping with Mazzi (they say Mazzi is pretty good, unlike American Racing about returning wheels). I thought wtf, they might actually deny a return for their mistake? Anyways, the overnight is only going to happen if they have them in stock (I sure hope they have them in stock).

Thanks a lot for the directions.

Unbolt the steering knuckle from the upper control arm (one nut on upper ball joint). This should let you pull the knuckle far enough out of the way to get the axle out. If it isn't you'll just have to unbolt the lower ball joint as well and pull the entire knuckle out of the way... don't forget to disconnect the brake line too.

I've always wandered what a fabtech would like like with factory rims. That thing will be huge with 37s.

No problem. Clean those bearings off good and grease those suckers up good too before you put them in. Wheel bearing grease is fine.
