“Zone” Function Odometer

I held down my trip reset button for too long and a message saying “zone” came up in the odometer area. When I hit the trip button again it started counting through different numbers. What is this function? What “zone” number should I leave it set at?

I believe it's got something to do with the compass. The number you set it at has to do with the area you live. Check your manual. The info should be in there.

Rochester you sent your compass into calibration mode... check in the back of your owners manual and set it to the zone by which you are located.. it should be fine after that.

I wondered what that was. It happened to me the first time I gassed up and tried to clear the trip meter. No telling what zone mine is set for now.

Well you don't show where you live in your profile, but you do say you work for the auto industry. I will assume you live in S.E. Michigan. Your Zone should be set for #10. The line for 9 & 10 goes down the center of the state. East side of Michigan equals 10, west side equals 9.

But then again you know what happens when you assume.

Yep.... I live in KY and work in TN.

I'll get out there and dig up my manual shortly to reset it.

Well, I was only 3 zones out of whack.

Instead of the 3 to 5 circles that it is supposed to take to calibrate the thing, it only took me one. I even tried that twice.

Hard to tell when your truck is going the speed they instruct you to drive however, the speedo doesn't even register that low.
