getting scratches fixed at dealer?

i have had some scratches on my truck since i bought it in dec. i am finally going in to have them fixed. they said that they are going to buff them out if they can. is there any way they could make things worse by trying to buff out the scratches. im paranoid that my truck is going to look worse than it does now with a couple scratches. i hate going to the dealer!!!!!

Are they doing it for free? Are they going to make it right if they screw it up?
If so then I say let them have at it.

yes, they are doing it for free. im just wondering if the areas they are buffing out will look worse than the actual scratch does.

My dealer has always done a great job. The guy I always go to for my service only has one guy he trusts and he tells me when to come in to let that guy do the work.

Scratches

I had three scratches on my truck when I picked it up. I brought it back and they gave it to a body shop to fix.

Unfortunately, the buffing didn't completely fix it, and I can still find the scratches. They offered to sand and REPAINT the area, and I declined. I was not about to have 1 month old truck repainted.

We all hate the idea of repainting a new truck, but I think you should take a look at some examples of that shops work. If it is done right you really can not tell. We had a door ding repainted on a new Caddy, and even my body shop friends can not tell where the 'new' paint was. A new coat of paint is easier to match than an old one.
It would be better if these flaws were not there in the first place but...

They can buff it out as long as it is just in the clearcoat. Whether you want them to paint in case it doesn't come out would depend on what color you have. Many of the browns and tans are very difficult if no impossible to match as well as some of the maroons. White, silver, blacks and bright reds seem to match well and I would allow them to work with those colors. (My brother does the warranty paint work for a Ford dealership and this is per him). I checked with him before I bought my truck to make sure I had a matchable color.
