Damn! If I wasn't poor I'd be able to afford the extra $55 for a Lariat!!!

Don't be ignorant! I think everyone here who has a FX4 could afford a Lariat and vice versa.

It is all the same truck...Ford marketing is lossing pace with the real world...the extra letters only mean extra money, talk abought up selling 101, the Lincolin LT and Harley Davidison cost the same to build ( body, mecanical ) as a XL

Options and decals are costing Ford money, Instead of one base truck one loaded truck, and one high end truck you have XL . STX. XLT. XTR ( Canada ) Lariat. FX4. Harley davidson and the Lincolin LT...

8 levels of trim for the same dam truck....

If you look at the options on my truck, a Lariat, you can clearly see that it's just an entry level Lariat. Many FX4s and some XLTs have options I don't. Trim levels don't mean much in Ford's world.

I would agree with the way Ford has them listed with one exception; I think Lariat should be considered "higher" than FX4. I believe Ford has FX4 listed higher than Lariat because of the fact that FX4's standard 4X4 makes the base price higher than a base 4X2 Lariat.

Here's my opinion of order:
XL
STX
XLT
FX4
LARIAT
HARLEY DAVIDSON
KING RANCH

However I'd prefer a FX4, Lariat, Harley, or even a XLT over a King Ranch.
I agree with your order of classes but in order of what I would want is almost the exact opposite....

I would take a King Ranch far and away....

Than the Lariat than the FX4.

Funny how Ford can get us bickering over which trim is better.

It's was a tongue-in-cheek comment.

That would be the xlt maybe? I was slit between a FX4 and my Lariat. I chose the lariat because of the cluster and it was a screw. Little did I know I could have just picked up a lariat cluster on E-Bay and put it in a FX4.

I got the FX4 because it had what I wanted in the color I wanted. I would have gotten a larait if it had what I wanted but there wasnt one at the dealer do I got the FX4. My question is why isn't like it was on the older model f-150's where you could get the FX4 package on the lariat or the XLT. I liked that and thats basically what the new luxury package is on the '06 models. Ford is so confusing .
