Shackles Or Block ?
Shackles Or Block ?
Ive noticed a lot of you guys on here have your trucks leveled. So what im wondering is which is the best way to go ? remove 2" block in the rear or get the 2" drop shackles ? and why ? also can some get me a link for the shackles, i can find the front end shackles and the rear in 3" but no 2". does anyone have pics of them removing their block ? ive got a 05 Roush 4x4 and the rear is too high.
Thx
Thx
Blocks, they are easy to install, and only run about 40 bucks at online parts retailers. Also with shackles you may rub the underside of your bed if you drop to far, removing the blocks won't rub at all.
I agree. On a 4x4, ditch the rear blocks. It seems that you're less likely to run into any vibration concerns this way too, at least I haven't heard of any from people who've removed the rear blocks. The shackles, they're kinda hit and miss. Some trucks they're fine, others need pinion shims.
i have shackles on mine, but im 2wd... its up to you how you want it to sit... i'd say shackles for street look and blocks for an offroad look. up to you though. the 2" DJM shackles are pretty close to the bed as you can see in one of my pics...

This thread has a picture of the block from what appears to be the parts book. https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...=block+removal.
It is a very simple to do. Jack up the rear high to get the rear wheels off the ground by about 4" (lazy method) or just enough to get the wheels off and put stands under the frame. I did one side at a time to avoid any potential alighnment issues, so I just moved the jack to the axle tube close to the spring, undid the ubolts and lowered the axle enough to get the block out. Jacked the rear up enough to start the the 4X2 ubolts and did the other side the same way. Tightened the ubolts, making sure the alignment pins where good and dropped it on the ground and did the final tightening. I did it alone and took my time and it was less than two hours total.

I have a 4x4 and decided to go with the ground force shackle kit.
I know I can take out the blocks, but then I don't know the exact pinion angle once the blocks are out. Also, you'll need to buy 4 4x2 U bolts and proper shims.
I received the kit in the mail yesterday, looks like a simple install.
