Need Help - Door Alignment Question
I have an '05 SCREW Lariat 4x4 and the rear passenger door needs aligning. Issue is when the door is closed, it "sticks out/is not flush" about 1/8" to 1/4" too much. I have loosened the striker/latch assembly and there does not appear to be an adjustment there.....how do you adjust the rear doors on a SCREW to make them flush with the body? It is the rear edge of the door that is not closing flush....hope I'm making sense.......
I have this problem where my door edge lines up with the extended cab door. Not very noticeable to the untrained eye, but I noticed when I got it. Dealer couldn't fix. I looked at the other F150s on the lot and probably half of them had the same deal. Good luck, and if you fix it, tell us how. If you can't, you will probably forget about it (i.e. if you can stay away from this ste long enough)

.I hear ya....I see it every time I walk by and it's driving me crazy....no reason for the door not to fit flush.....anyone have a shop manual that could help us out??
I've got numerous books that detail door adjustment, but they don't help, I know, I have tried a dozen times to get doors on various cars/trucks right.
It is a talent/skill thing.
A good body guy can adjust one in minutes, a do it your selfer tends to make it worse.
I have a buddy that can loosen and adjust a door perfectly, with no apparent effort.
And I have watched trained shop guys spend hours messing one up.
The best solution is find a body shop near you with a great reputation, and then ask what they want to adjust it. Local shop near me does it for twenty bucks; another did one for free when asked nicely by a neighbor of mine.
But I would ask unless you just want to learn a new skill.

I just noticed yesteray my driver side door sticks out by 1/8th at the bottom where it meet rear scab door. I was going to try to adjust the strikers myself, but i guess not since no one has had much luck with it. I really dont want to take it back to the dealer, I might have a body shop look at it.

I have an '05 SCREW and my rear passenger door isn't aligned right. It binds up and is harder to open and close than the other 3 doors. When latched though, it sits right.
I took it to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty. Sent it to a body shop...told me it was "out of alignment." They ordered a new hinge...installed it. 2 days later I picked it up and....
Feels the same.
All of this at no cost to me, but for time (which sucks because dealer is 20 miles away and don't have loaner cars).
SO....back to the dealer.
Anyone have an issue with the door binding up...e.g. feeling like its harder to move than the other doors?

guys - we need to find an answer to this........I know my earlier post wasn't that clear - but the issue (for me at least) is there is no adjustment available via the striker post. I've had good luck aligning doors on my other cars - even aligned the tailgate on this '05 Lariat SCREW - simply by loosening the striker bolt then moving it in the desired direction then tightening.....problem with the rear passenger door is that the striker "U" bolt is non-adjustable......I've had mine off twice now and there is no adjustment - additionally, the latch assembly in the door is not adjustable either....driving me nuts to figure out how Ford adjusts these doors.....I'm thinking they must use different sized striker "U" bolt assemblies or something like that?
Would someone with more sense than I - please check it out and let me know what I'm missing?

I've looked at mine HotLap... I'm not sure that's my problem though.
Mine is more seal related I believe. In short, mine seems to be a bit more simplistic than the problem you're describing. I'll try to remember to snap a picture of my issue the next time I'm tinkering in the garage with my digcam...
Basically, the passenger side rear door's seal (the one that separates metal from the window at the lowest point - the hard rubber seal) sticks out...

If ya"ll are refering to the curve in the door I can suggest a solution. Mine had a door that looked like it was not closed in the center. Take some small boards and wrap rags around them. The rags are so you don't scratch the truck. Now look at the door, if you have a spot that appears to stick out there should be a spot that appears to be in a little. This may be hard to notice. When you locate this spot place the board between the door and the truck in the "low" areas. Now close your door and push to relax the curve so that it fits better to the truck.
A friend of mine showed me how they did this in the shop he used to work in. I thought he was crazy. It worked on my truck. If mine was under warranty I think I would have the dealer fix it.
