Does the spring rest on the axle now or did you put something between the two?
Thanks! Simple, clean modifications is what I'm all about! The block sits on 2 little alignment pins that stick up off of the axle and the block has pins on the top of it that go into the spring. So when you take the block out, the spring rests on the pins that the block were on. It is pretty simple once you get it apart and look at it. I jacked the truck up as high as possible by the rear end housing, then put jack stands under the frame on both sides at the rear, then took the U bolts off, and lowered the rear end down. Once the springs are fully released of tention, the rear axle will continue down and you can yank the block out, then jack it back into place. The hard part is getting the pins to line back up with the springs. The rear end wants to tilt forward and move around, and it is REALLY heavy and hard to move around to line up. If you have a lift and a friend it will make it much eaisier. Good luck!

Yes, if you have a 4x4, then taking out those blocks give you a cheap 2" drop. And the only difference in the U-bolts are the length. I think the 4x4's are about 9 inches and the 2WD are about 7. You can just get a hacksaw and cut the extra 2" off if you'd like, but I wanted to make sure I didn't F the threads up. I guess you could run a thread dye on there and then saw them off, and then run it back off and cut a clean thread on the end. But if you do get 2WD u-bolts, you can EASILY resell the 4x4 bolts and blocks to some on on the board. They seem to be a highly prized item around here. (kinda like tow hooks )

Nice I think I am going to go this route. Did you get the parts from the dealer or ford parts network.

FYI - i ordered my 2wd u-bolts from FPN and they changed the order to 4x4 u bolts based on my VIN which is required when placing the order. I wasn't aware of this till after i received the parts - I did specifically order 2wd though - Make sure to make note that you do want the 2 wd u bolts even though you have a 4x4 - i just had to ship mine back today for replacements... kind of pain -
goodluck - i can't wait to drop the rear on mine for that level stance..

So does lifting a truck have an effect on the resale value??
