Curious. Volant or K&N

I'm ready to get an air intake but have seen some post of people who lost mpg(s) and are generally not happy. What's the common consensus?

I like the Volant kit. How does it stack to the K&N?

THANKS!

I've heard a lot of people here say that the K&N didn't do jack for them.

I went with the Volant and after a couple of modification, I notice the difference now.

why not Airaid or AF1 ? what are the dyno tested hp gains ( or the manufacturer stated hp gains) for the volant or k&n ? I assume all the 'CAI' kits cost between 200-300 bucks so why not just get the biggest ( and it won't be much for any of them ) performance increase. Every little bit for bolt on mod's count. Isn't that what it's all about?

Just took a look at your sig. Man you have a lot accomplished!
Awesome!

If you search you'll fine many MANY opinions on different CAI's.
I did the search and holy crap......my head hurt for a couple of days.
Some experience CEL's with either Airaid, AF1, and Volant(1st generation).
Plus price also is a big deal.

Volant or S&B!

They both use the closed box design, the Volant has the option of the ram air tube. The S&B uses the same design except without the option of the ram air, but it has a clear lid on the box. Its kind of cool to pop the hood and look at the filter through the square air box. Plus the S&B is $50-$60 cheaper and does the same thing.

Looking to get one myself but I was interested in the Brute. My bestfriend has one in his titan(sorrry) and you can literrally hear the air being sucked in. He says it made a big difference. Anyone have the Brute?

I don't know much about Airaid or AF1. I'll look into them. In the mean time, does anyone know of one that is clearly better (or worse) than the other.

For me, when it's all said and done, I want better performance but not at the expense of my engine. I want good quality first and foremost.

When I was looking at intakes, I almost went with the Volant but I found the Airaid and AF1 had the biggest "claimed" hp gains. I went with the Airaid only because I do not care for the chrome look of the AF1 but either would be a great choice. And it is in no way too loud for my taste.

Here's a plug for Troyer, he's got a good write up on both and if you get a tuner, will build your xcal2 tunes for the higher airflow if you have one of these.

Just my personal experience here, good luck with whatever you choose.
