They both use the closed box design, the Volant has the option of the ram air tube. The S&B uses the same design except without the option of the ram air, but it has a clear lid on the box. Its kind of cool to pop the hood and look at the filter through the square air box. Plus the S&B is $50-$60 cheaper and does the same thing.
