Exhaust

I have a 2005 F150, extended cab, lariat 4x4, 5.4

I now have a gibson cat back, SIDO system, but what I really want is a true dual setup. Only problem is when I went to go get it, every place told me it was impossible for one of 2 different reasons.
First: There is an Oxygen sensor just after where the pipes come into one piece. They told me if they just left it on one side of the exhaust or in the crossover piece in an "H" pipe it wouldn't get enough flow and cause a check engine light/fault code. I suggested running an "X" pipe and putting the O2 sensor there, because all the exhaust is going right through that area, which leads me to the second reson I was told its not possible.

Secondly: There isnt' enough room for 2 SISO mufflers under there.

I was told this with both my 2002 FX4 extended cab and this truck. I went to about 10 different shops and they all told me the same thing, which makes me think there might be some credit to what they are all saying.

The couple places that were willing to do the "x" pipe said I'd still have to go to a DIDO muffler.

Did I just happen to run into a bunch of lazy shops, or is this really the case.

Thanks in advance for the replies. Also does anybody know of a place that will do it in the Virginia Beach area?

My old 2004 "newbody style" f150 supercrew xlt had true dual exhaust. It had 2 SISO flowmaster mufflers. I don't know what they did about the sensor but I can tell you that the 2 mufflers were right next to each other, they were installed vertical, not flat like you would normally see.. If that makes sense. And there was plenty of room-- the stock muffler is HUGE!!! Good luck!

The Magnaflow DIDO muffler has an Xpipe built into the muffler, you can save room with that.

Sounds similiar to a Bassani duel set up. I had a complete Bassani setup on my Lightning and loved the sound and quality.

are you not happy with the sound/performance of this one? i have been considering the gibson set up, and was just curious why you are looking to get a new system

BS they could just mount them narrow side by side.

My friend has a Tundra with the exact set-up your talking about doing and it sounds amazing.

I'm happy with it, I just wanted a true dual setup and settled for this. It sounds good, not too loud mainly just a low pitched growl. I had the flowmaster delta flow 40 series on my 2002 and I much prefer this gibson to that.
