My Sub Install

After removing my backseat to mount my amp there I decided it would just be easier to mount it under the rear seat where the jack was. There's nothing too good to mount it to behind the seat and I didn't want to worry about it overheating or not being able to get to it easily in case I needed to adjust it or something. I ordered my box from HiFi something or other from ebay. It has a single 10" MTX sub from my old Thunderform in my Ranger. It sounds great! I also made a custom trim piece to go around the amp so it looks like one solid piece under the seat. Now I don't have to look at the ugly amp wires or worry about someone kicking it or getting dirt in it. It's all run by an Alpine 300 watt mono amp.

Good looking and clean install? And it also gives you a little bit of more secured storage space - for your, uh, stash.

I went another route and suspended the amp from the bottom of the seat. I don't even notice it:

Pretty cool. I never even thought of that. Since I screwed mine into the floor the screws went through the bottom of the truck, but a heaping gob of silicone fixed that right up.

hey dudes,
i like what you have done. I've got the CD-6 MP3 factory head unit but not the audiophile system. I'd like to add an AMP... is there a preferred amp that just plugs right in, or can you use a Scoche or similar harness adapter.
Please advise.

Also, tardman91, did you build that carpeted box under the rear seats? My STX doesnt have that, just open.

I didn't build it, I bought it off of ebay.

Thanks for the compliments guys. That amp surround was my first real attempt at building something with the new power tools I got for Christmas.

Does 1 10" give you alot of boom? Or just enough to know it's there? I'm debating on 2 10s or 1 10. Thanx

1 10" gives me enough boom to let the neighbors know it's there. It's very loud and sounds very good. It won't break any windows or make your ears bleed, but I wasn't going for that.

I mean, I don't want to bleed my ears, I know I'm young and listen to rap, but I just want a little more thump, I think the right 10" sub in our trucks would hit enough that you'd feel it. Can you feel it if you have rap on loud?

It fits a 10". I'm not sure of the mounting depth. I just knew that my MTX would fit because the Thunderform isn't that deep. I got it from HiFiaudio something or other from ebay. It was $100. Shipped. I'm sure they would be happy to give you the mounting depth. I think they're open later because they're on central time. I'll get you the link.

Yeah, the change in my cupholder bounces about 1/8th of an inch when I turn up the volume.

So you can feel it eh.. Sweet, my dad is like I don't want you blaring that crap music so loud you're deaf by the time you reach 18 with that crap and how loud you listen to it. I figure 1 10" gives you the bump that you can feel it and it not be like shaking the hole truck lol
